Question for one of you CWA insiders. How many stations out there have mergered US/HP operations?

The HP supervisors are now considered Shift managers. Since smaller stations don't have Shift managers, will there be a new position creadted for them?

Will they be allowed to step down to lead agent and leave the management position?

Thanks for any informtion you can provide.

They are considered shift managers. But those jobs should go up on a COB when the interview process is done and if they are not chosen they have no place to go. It would be the street so I would bet that if you have a HP manager they would choose them but.....they better make sure they dont pass up on some veteran employees who are well qualified ...there could be some legal problems.

only one i know of is RDU...havent heasrd anything other than the union was fighting it as it was not done per protocol..? Doesn't seem worth it to be a CSS---only 50 some cents extra an hour? Right now our supes do a lot of paperwork stuff....I wouldnt do it...

With this change ... in the future we may know who mgt is. Right now in the "East" and agent can be a CWA member, shop stewart and a CSS (mgt.)?????

Ah, but a CSS is NOT management. We are equal to the CSA's just with a little more responsibility, hence the $.57 an hour difference.
A shift manager are the ones who dole out disciplinary actions, along with staffing the flights amongst other things.
Basically, for us westies, a CSS is an SSR (red coat) and a shift manager is a Supervisor. Should cut down on some of the confusion.
(But still, fifty-seven cents is almost NOT worth it to be a CSS!!! lol.)

The "west" has it right ..... when will the "east" be getting it right??? ... lol lol

How are red coats selected, do agents bid the postion each go around?

Nope, it's not an open bid to all agents. One has to interview and pass a test that says you know the basics of how to compensate and a few other things. Not sure what all is on the test as it came into play about two years after I became a red coat. Besides, at least here in PHX, it's a job not many want anymore. (Too many people have seen us stress about the small stuff and it's scared them off of it. Sad too, because we're like 14 or 18 people short here in PHX!)
