The CWA has a CBA DOH,simple enough.

Sorry Philjr, I don't agree. Unfortunately, we will have to wait and see what happens in negotiations. It may be simple for the east side to say but west doesnt feel that way. Obviously it affects you to the positive and west to the negative. It may have happened that way in the past but as you know the only thing constant in this industry is change. There needs to be an integration formula such as possibly 2 east side employees than 1 west side and integrate thru the list in this way. I hope the seniority issue doesnt cause any hard feelings on either side. None of the employees asked for this merger nor were they aware of all the changes to take place such as boarding priorities, pass travel changes and job scopes changing. Hopefully we will get through these things together as one new combined profitable company and enjoy meeting the employees of the other half. Making new friends and in the future be able to laugh about what we have been through together is what I look forward to! Regards.

US AIRWAYS AMT UPDATE:
Seniority Integration Clarification
A number of you asked what the IBT meant by seniority integration in accordance
with Allegheny-Mohawk sections 3 and 13 and that this be accomplished
in a fair and equitable manner.
There is absolutely no difference between the IBT’s and the IAM’s seniority
integration plans. Seniority will be integrated per each individual’s date of
entry into classification. Furthermore, there will be no “protected stations,â€￾
period. Our only caveat regarding this process is that no current employee
will be furloughed as a result of the integration of the two employee groups;
this is something America West management has stressed as well.
Comments or rumors to the contrary are simply meant to be misleading.

I hope you are right DOH.This Employee Association IBT + CWA Interim Transition Agreement scares me because the people acting in official capacities can make this decision with out a vote. If they do not come to agreement it will go to an expedited arbitration.who knows how a arbitrator will rule?

Teamster negotiators are exploring
methods to protect Teamsters’
current rights and expectations that
could be affected by the difference in
the age of the companies.
These discussions did not reach
agreement but began the dialogue
that will continue in the coming
weeks.
The Association and the Airline Parties will negotiate final rules to
transition the America West passenger service employees to the existing
US Airways passenger service collective bargaining agreement, as
amended, as listed below. Such negotiations will not be Section 6
negotiations with regard to the CWA Collective Bargaining Agreement.
1. The Association and the Airline Parties will commence negotiations
no later than January 15, 2006. If the Parties have not reached
final agreement on all transition rules on or before June 1, 2006,
then any remaining open items will be resolved through Expedited
Arbitration as provided for in the existing US Airways passenger
service collective bargaining agreement, as amended. Any
Expedited Arbitration will be limited in scope and remedy to open
items specific to transitioning the America West passenger service
employees to the existing US Airways passenger service collective
bargaining agreement, as amended except that pay will be
transitioned as follows:

CWA and IBT representatives will meet with US Airways management in Phoenix next Wednesday and Thursday to continue transition discussions...

Representatives of the Passenger Service Employee

Association (IBT + CWA) will meet in with US Airways

management in Phoenix next Wednesday and Thursday

(February 15 and 16) to continue discussions on the

transition of West agents into the CWA US Airways

(the union contract). The last session of these

negotiations took place January 9-11 in Washington

DC.

Management has committed to email us their transition proposals by Thursday, February 9, so that we can prepare responses before next week’s meetings. The CWA and IBT representatives will meet in Phoenix Tuesday, the day before meeting with management, to review management’s proposals and to develop a joint strategy for the transition discussions.

CWA’ers and IBT’ers will take advantage of the Phoenix meetings to continue their seniority integration discussions. The Interim Transition Agreement calls for the Association to combine the East and West seniority lists and to present that list to management by April 1.

We’ll keep you informed of the results of these and further meetings.
