seneca4, Wow your timing is a tough call to make and no one here has a working crystal ball to rely on. If I were in your shoes, I'd go for it IF.... you have a back-up plan. If all heck breaks loose, you may get support from another Airline but I'd call around and ask before going. I'm sure you and your family have been looking forward to this trip and are excited but apprehensive as well which is understandable. Therefore, if you are like I am, Go for it.... A Day at the Beach beats the heck out of standing around an airport. Goodluck and take plenty of Sunblock !!!! B)I have tickets for my family to go to St. Lucia on 4/12 through 4/18/06. Any opinions as to whether or not we should take this trip? Thanks
12, You really surprised me with your post. Here (seneca4), is a possibly loyal Delta customer, here for the first time, asking for suggestions/help in a vacation decision for a family and you go off about "Bookaways", "Practice strikes", "Billboards" and what not. I can understand your anger and frustration, but.... Why not answer the posters question? I did and I work for the Airline that is your competitor in your own back yard. Seems to me that if you are so pro-company, that would be first and foremost to reply to the poster instead of striking back at those who disagree with you or have a different stance on the issues. And for the people here that claim that there is no "book away" or adverse effect from practice striking and rhetoric such as billboards, etc, there you have it.
Open your eyes and see what is REALLY happening to the company. You are only trying to fool yourself to believe that the rhetoric is not impacting people's decisions to fly.
Once again...thanks for taking a bad situation and making it dire. It's anyone's guess what revenues could be if such anti-company actions weren't taking place. And to think that with those added revenues we would eventually profit and then ALL of us at DL could see pay raises or profit sharing (or at least fight for it...I'd join the fight then) in the future. But unfortunately it looks like everything is pushed back b/c we are forcing customers to make hard decisions on whether or not to fly and they are challenging their loyalty to DL.
THANK YOU.

Customer Service works well when applied correctly.

I would check to see who else flies the route and call the other carriers. I would ask questions such as what percentage of planes are full. With it being the week after Easter and spring breaks I would be prepared to guess how long you might be stuck. Unfortunately, you will not be the only pax stranded and it could take a while to get you home based on oal loads and when you are reaccomed. The fee I believe for sb should such a case ococur is 25.00 per person. It is not the oals fault as you chose to trvl with Delta(ie Delta has your money) and with the price of fuel it will be a gift to get you home. I know you have spent money on the tkts but with the extra hotel nights food etc and the not knowing when you might return home you have a tough decision to make and my sympathies.I have tickets for my family to go to St. Lucia on 4/12 through 4/18/06. Seneca, go for it. Delta and Alpa are apart in negotiations about 150million dollars. I work for DAL and believe that before DAL would ever shut down, the 150million would come from the other employee groups. I believe the creditors would see to that. 🙁 That being said, have a great trip and thanks for your loyalty..I have tickets for my family to go to St. Lucia on 4/12 through 4/18/06.
