STL gets snow and DL runs out of deicing fluild. How does a large airline run out of deicing fluild?

someone apparently didn't order or do so in time.... there have been reports that deicing deliveries are taking longer than usual at several airports but you would think you would order before you are "on the fumes"...

someone will have a "talking to"

The same thing happened to US in CLT back in January. In that case the airport handles all deicing operations so while all carriers were affected, US was the worse.

I remember the US situation... the difference being that the main tenant of the airport was dependent on the airport - and apparently did not have any control over what happened. A dangerous position to be in but not necessarily unexpected.

That situation also highlighted that glycol doesn't show up 24 hrs after you order it... that's why w/o knowing the circumstances, we shouldn't jump TOO far to conclusions... but the fact that it has happened several times this winter says that DL should have been a bit more proactive in the time they expected it would take for a delivery.
