Democrats Criticize Obama's Proposed Tax Cuts !

They are just posturing for PORK. Once they add their special interests and lobbyists interests, anything will fly.

Sometimes I am amazed when some politicians say "exactly" what is on their mind. For example, one Senator stated in that article, "If I'm a business person, it's unlikely if you give me a several-thousand-dollar credit that I'm going to hire people if I can't sell the products they're producing," said Sen. Kent Conrad, D-N.D., a member of the committee. True, but did he stop and think that a several-thousand-dollar credit may allow an employer to retain some employees instead of laying them off? Even if it were for just a few months, those few months would mean that said employee would receive a salary, and would then bring a portion of that salary back into the system by buying consumer products, thereby creating the circular flow of money and taxable revenues.

Hey Lily,

You are going too deep. We MeriCans can't handle deep thoughts. Can you back it up to a 5th grade level for us?

Tanks,

Senator John Kerry, D-Mass., said, "I'd rather spend the money on the infrastructure, on direct investment, on energy conversion, on other kinds of things that much more directly, much more rapidly and much more certainly create a real job."

Taking capital out of the markets now to fund public-works projects that will take months or years to organize will not only not create jobs in the short term, it will actively damage the investment engine that will maintain the jobs we have now. Barack Obama appears to realize this, at least dimly, while Kerry just remains dim.

FDR had the same idea as Senator Kerry, which was the confiscation of capital from “the richâ€￾ and redistribution through public-works programs and welfare assistance. Not only did it not work the first time, but the second phase of the New Deal resulted in an increase in unemployment greater than the percentage of total unemployment today between 1937-38. Only the war put America back to work, primarily because millions of men who would otherwise have been in the workforce went into the military instead.

Obama is smarter than FDR and Kerry combined.

He has actually learned from history, and will apply his knowledge now.

What a concept...

So we're told.

I've seen absolutely nothing in Obama's past to prove your assessment . . neither have you.

What a theory . . .

Dell,

I think we can agree that part of the problem with our dire situation is confidence. Thus, even a false-confidence can work wonders. No one has/had confidence under Bush. If Obama does the same as Bush, yet the people and financial institutions have confidence, the results will likely be entirely different. Perceptions are a powerful tool, Dell.

I can't quite see where pumping cash into a situation will change whether Bush or Obama are running the pump. The basic problem doesn't change....both houses have demonstrated and this is with Dem control, that they have no clue. Its Humpty Dumpty time in the good 'ol USA.
I have a real fear our Dem friends are going to make the situation much much worse.

I liked what Citi threw on the table.....to forget the arrears and go forward. That in its basic simplicity would have helped loads.

The financial institutions got the cash and partied....both houses failed here...and failed big time.

Real soon we won't be able to borrow....and its coming.

Obama is doing what got us here in the first place.....

You know,Lily....perception is why we're here.....

"Congressional Democrats are firing a surprising number of unexpectedly sharp brushback pitches at President-elect Barack Obama and his staff over policy plans and personnel picks, making him look embattled during what was to be a triumphant debut week in Washington. "

" As Obama makes plans to roll out a sweeping economic plan, Majority Leader Harry Reid gave interviews with Politico and The Hill newspaper and made clear he won't take marching orders from Obama. "I don't work for" Obama, he told us."

Just who the h-e-l-l DOES Reid work for then ?
