There is also a significant manipulation of the dollar going by the Chinese through there own currency. That will end. When it does, their imports from us will rise significantly, and our economy will grow far more rapidly than it is now.
Suffice it to say, our measly increase in production will not sway the global market much in the near term. The only long-term solution is to reduce our dependence on it. This conversation would be far different right now if we had done that back in the late 70's when somebody in a prominent position called for us to do just that.
