PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — An Oregon man has been released without charges after authorities say he became disruptive on a commercial flight bound for Hawaii, leading two F-15 fighter jets to escort the flight back to Portland International Airport.

The FBI says the man has no known terrorist links.

So why was he not charged with anything?

So I wonder if he'll be ticketed by the FAA, and if Hawaiian will go after him for fuel and pax accommodation costs.

The last problem person I dealt with got off with LAPD, but I always think my Irreg. Report, with abused FAR's included <_< , would generate something with the FAA.

Wishful thinking??

AMEN, brother. I can't believe he wasn't charged with anything.

Wishful thinking??

Almost certainly when it comes to the FAA since their role with respect to the "civilian" population is not one of police enforcement. Without charges being press by those directly involved (FA's, pilots, agents, etc) it's unlikely that even the FBI would press the issue unless the flight was truly at risk or there was actually physical harm inflicted by the passenger.
