DL looks to alter MAC agreement

Appears to be a prudent move.

Be proactice and deal with the covenents of the loan now instead of being simply reactive when the NW HQ is closed.

The city will still get its money.

Looks like a carrot and stick approach is being adopted...

Article here.

From the article:

"Some of the airline operations that Delta is prepared to consider locating here, it might locate elsewhere," Hirst said, which is why he wants to renegotiate the MAC debt agreement within two months. "It's necessary, otherwise the kinds of decisions that we have to make will be made and they may not involve Minnesota."

Translation: "Give is what we want, or we're taking our ball and going home."

Carrot and Stick...or economic blackmail?

DAL employees, take notice of how these guys deal with the MAC. They will use similar tactics with the employees. The MAC has a contract, that is the only reason they are even discussing options with them. If they did not have a contract (like having no union  ), there would be no talking, just taking.
