DTW "firecrackers" or explosives"incident

I guess you have not been watching the news with the picture all day of the guy in the bomb squad suit going up the aircraft stairs with the large Delta sign overhead and the aircraft in the Delta livery

Just early morning on the 26th. Today show had the breaking news. After that, I was flying. All I heard was "NORTHWEST".

From the NY Times:

You have to be kidding. The system worked?

Nepolitano should have gone on there and told the world that there was a major malfunction in the system if a guy who pays cash for an international ticket, one way, and checks no bags, was not flagged. Even when his own Father has reported it to the US Embassy that he is a radical...

That's 'profiling' and illegal.

So why did they not evacuate the plane when it landed if there was a bomb on board?

Sounds like reason enough to me

Why did they move a person suspected of possibly having another explosive device into the premium class cabin, close to the flight deck, before they landed? Wouldn't it have been more prudent to relocate him to the most structurally sound part of the airplane between the time the bomb misfired and time they landed?

And these are the people in our present gov't who want to take over and run my my heath care?

It is security theater.

We all know that every airline employee (how many hundreds of thousands have access to live aircraft daily) is absolutely trustworthy and stable... (And no, I no longer work within the AOA, or for any airline or airline contractor).

What if the guy walked into the terminal with a suicide vest while people were jammed in with a weather delay during the holiday rush? How will that be stopped? What about the crowded malls/stores on black Friday...

This is similar to our "War on Drugs." (theater)

A bomb on board a U.S. Christmas Day flight would have failed to bring the plane down even if it had been detonated successfully, a new test explosion suggests.
A controlled blast on a Boeing 747, using the same explosives that Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab is accused of smuggling on board, failed to burst the fuselage.
It means, had the bomb exploded on December 25, Flight 253 from Amsterdam to Detroit would have successfully landed .
