As the hysteria over swine flu grows and the EU warns over travel to the US and Mexico. As the State Department is about to issue a travel warning to all non essential travel to Mexico. Has, or is AA making schedule adjustments? Are they going to eliminate layovers to Mexico? Anyone knows if the passenger loads are off?

media hype...wait it out and take general precautions.

Im leaving for 2 weeks (GDL/PVR) and have little to no concern.

My company just banned travel to Mexico this morning, and speaking with some people there, they're waiting for their employer to announce later today that they are authorized to telecommute until further notice...

A friend at HDQ said the drop-off is pretty noticeable. Flights today are going down to MEX at 40-50% and coming back with 80-90% load factors....

My company has said its business as usual. For now certain updates are being sent to flight service but plans to continue to operate all scheduled flights to/from Mexico for the foreseeable future. F/As are told to use what amounts to "Universal Precautions"...hand washing, covering mouth when cough/sneezing....etc.

My brother is in GDL visiting family and I spoke with him today. GDL/Jalisco is quiet(er) and schools/nightclubs will remain closed thru next Tue. Everyday life continues....

I would remind everyone to take any and all precautions when traveling to Mexico (or anywhere) but would also remind them that media reports tend to be somewhat sensationalized.

So where is the APFA regarding this issue? The US is about to announce another warning asking people to restrict all "non-essential" travel to Mexico. Is this covered under our contract, perhaps hazard pay? Volunteer flying only?
So far the only thing we have gotten from Flight Service is that extra masks will be provided to give to the passengers if they seem sick! Um...if I had to work that flight I would be wearing it myself! Has anyone heard anything from the F/A's and pilots flying in and out of Mexico?

You are a f/a...you are "essential".

I would think by now you would understand the APFA doesn't care about you, or your safety. All they want is your $$$.

Word is theyy are having to call two or three reserves for each open spot of which there are many. Even having trouble getting the cleaners to come on the airplaneto clean them at DFW. Think about how clean these airplanes usually are, snotty tissues from God knows when in the seatback pocket, cleaners using the same towel on the toilet and then using it on the faucet handles and mirrors....
Cres are taking the masks from the Ancilliary bag (if even brought to the airplane) and using it themselves on the layover.

Thank God in Mexico they do such a fantastic job cleaning. I cant imagine in DFW doing less.
