E190 to Islands

Well, are we competing with AA DL and the likes or what? Just for giggles I priced out Sept 10th rtn Sept 17th (both will have E90's on them). DL wants for First class round trip $812.00 and USAirways $1190.00. You bet your bottom button you will get inflight entertainment and a hot meal on DL. Just saying you're going to play with the big boys you better off what they offer for the price.

beachbo, do you REALLY think anyone of great % actually BUYS a FC tix? AND, it has been my little ol experience that those that actually pay the most require the least. It is the low price passenger that demands the most.

As to where all the sale items are kept on the E190 in coach isn't the problem. What is usually the problem is the lack of space in first class. When they take out the second cart up front to add the cold meals which is usually a sandwich plate or salad you lose everything that was in that cart. I will give credit where credit is due in saying that the sandwich/salad is usually very good. I have done the 190 quite a few times to DFW and even DEN when they had the short lived redeye on the 190. Now, back to the first class issue. That airplane needs a bigger galley PERIOD. THAT is about the only problem with that airplane. Water in the overhead with bags of snacks on the small side. It's tacky as all get out. I'm sorry but they could have given us the 2nd side of the galley if even the depth of a half sized cart. It's a pain in the rear to serve ANY kind of meal up there with hardly any supplies and nowhere to move.

So just another little question?????

What to do with all the First Class Garbage ??????
The Tiny Trash can is worthless!!!!

How would you know? US only serves the lowest common denominator. You better tell AA and CO your theory, because they are really screwed up with the premium service they are offering in their premium cabins.

You're right. We only serve the lowest common denominator. Luckily, AA and CO inherited our so called highest common denominators who ARE actually the common lowest denominator in disguise. 😉

You haven't seen the new uniform items? A backpack and two fanny packs...one for the front, and one for the, er, fanny.

Questions?
We must be long lost brothers or something. That was my first reaction. A backpack.

Without going through all 25 posts (some my own) what in HELL is the difference of flying the plane to the islands vs. DFW or even DEN when we did? I don't get it. I didn't know that the "islands" were soooooo demanding that it would need a different a/c. So the 190 breaks in MBJ or PUJ with no parts on hand. I didn't know we had parts for the 190 sitting around DFW either. If that is the worry then....well I'll save it for another post. I know I can complain but this seems to be of no worry.

Well First, Three and a half hours vs the Two Forty Five to start. Also there is much more baggage on the Island flights then the Businessmen Special to DFW. The Cargo Holds on the 190 are as bad as the F28's and F100's. So when the revenue numbers fall because we are no longer carrying freight and they claim we are not making money on the flight and stop the flight...... So please DFW and the Islands is like Apples to Oranges.

First of all,

Since when does it take 2:45 to fly from PHL to DEN? Try 4 hours. This plane has proven it can make those legs. The E190 is only going to be on these island trips for 6 to 8 weeks. PUJ and MBJ is it for now. The company doesn't want to drop these flights. As a matter of fact the reason the 190 is on these routes for this length of time is as a place holder. We do not want to lose our slots into these islands. By putting a 190 on the route for a few weeks of Hurricane season we are able to hold our time slots and maybe even make a nickle vs and A320 on a route with half the passengers during this period. Don't get your panties in a wad.

Look, not doubting the A/C's range. PHL-DEN was short lived with the 190.
I was talking about DFW! The Aircraft is Nice from a Pax standpoint but poor from an employee point of view.
The FWD Galley in Poor at best. Lack of Storage, Lack of Garbage space. The Cargo Bins Stink. How many employees have split their heads open on this A/C? There are a lot more bags to the Islands then to DFW or even DEN. Whats next, The CRJ900 ?

Well if the loads aren't heavy enough during the hurricane season and slower period of travel to warrant bigger aircraft what else is the response? Pull the flight? I think it's a good move. As for in the cabin the ONLY problem I have is lack of space and supplies in the fwd galley. It stinks but you can make due. Besides, it's only for a short time. It's not as if they are putting it on permanently. At least we have the plane to allow flexibility and it's still mainline crews.
