What's new

Ec130

Those guys are gonna be fat, dumb and happy until they put a hole in one of the main windows in the middle nowhere (Pickle Lake, Marathon... take your pick) during the fire season or even worse, in the middle of winter. Have you ever seen the procedure you have to follow to change one of those windows???
What ever happened to the good old screws and nuts ???

isn't it a damned if you do, damned if you don't scenario.

The old screws would cause vibration problems if the torque wasn't right. If the torque was too much you've broken a window anyway. It's still no fun changing the old windsheilds. A mistake on the design and with regards to the adhesive used is likely being rectified as we speak. All it'll take is a suitably strong adhesive that allows flexing to some degree. Or a strip design to sandwich the glass with proseal, much like how many windows are held in place now. A step forward in a design that was to allow more stiffness, and more streamlining and better sealing isn't working in canada's climate, but it's not the end of the world.

But I guess the positives of the new aircraft (ie Dual hyd) far outweigh the possibility of a window cracking.

Pickle Lake is the middle of nowhere? Hell I have considered it home for the last 4 years....gotta love the Winston!

Hey PJ, I thought that Marathon was the middle of no-where.........that darn GPS is only good for one thing and that's 10lb walleye.
