You constant (eastie) basher's are right on! Just look!

Earned Preferred Customer Pacing YOY Change
Chairman’s +11.2% +44.0%
Platinum +5.2% +15.8%
Gold +3.5% +16.0%
Silver +4.4% +14.5%
2007 / 2006

On a side note I have been through PHL 8 times this summer and the opperation while busy and stressed seem pretty darn good!

Are you smoking crack?

I guess these PHL employees have set another new low...

Just Kidding, it does seem to have improved a bit at PHL the last time I went through there for an intl flt. 😛h34r:

You omitted a couple of things:

- the 1st number is the change from 2006 to 2007 while the 2nd number is the change from 2005 to 2006. Look at the size of those drops - from an average 22.5% increase between 2005 and 2006, to a 6% increase from 2006 to 2007.

- Parker said back in April that there were 7% more people on track to achieve elite status this year vs last year. Now the difference is only 6%. The growth is definitely slowing since the res migration.

sky high states: You have to wonder if he forecast his decision to make USAirways a LOW COST carrier. Some Elites would leave.......sooooo.....let's add seats in coach and reduce First Class. I'm not sure how many 321's are in the fleet, but, lets say we have 25. We added 15 EXTRA seats to the aircraft. 25 X 15 = 375.
We have added TWO A321's to the fleet without spending 50 million each to buy them. <----and, there you have it. Tempe's way of thinking.

disclaimer: My numbers may be wrong, I couldnt find #'s via the website, the fleet numbers, but I'm sure someone will comment here.

Hey, nothing wrong with using "guesstimates" for example purposes (and you were close anyway  , since there are 28).

There are 28 Airbus Industrie 321s in the fleet right now with 15 on orders for delivery...Ironically enough the new A321s are already reconfigured 🙁

Officially, "420" MORE seats in the system.

you need "420" to sit in Y on US's planes...and, Tempe is smoking some really good "420" the way it is running this operation

I would like to see the total revenue from our new preferred customers compared to total revenue gone from our lost prefered customers. They probably don't have that on their spreadsheet. It really makes me nervous when Doug brushes off the loss of loyal customers so easily.

Well, I'll tell you what, I will barely make US3 this year and when I do fly, I am usually the only, or one of 2, US1's on the plane. I am sitting next to more and more US4's in FC.

I recently had a problem because of the CP desk's increasing incompetence and was told by a very nice RES agent who later tried to help me with another US screw-up, that the CP numbers are dropping dropping dropping. So, don't know how Tempe is spinning the numbers, but the anectodotal evidence tells a different story.

Not so much for me the last 2 times I was there. It was a joke. But then again...not my job.

I was told the same by Tempe in our last chat about a week ago. While we do not know how they arrived at their figures, we have anecdotal and survey evidence otherwise.

First of all, let's remember that the most recent numbers reflect those who achieved in 2006 for the 2007 year, which means that the problems caused by internal reasons such as res migration, short staffing, labor issues, etc., had just begun, and had not become SO intense. Second, if not mistaken they began selling status last year.

Our most recent survey shows that out of 360 or so responses, only 26 chose to stay with US Airways. While it is not scientific, it is somewhat indicative of the feeling of high yield business travelers, and of other frequent fliers. One can extrapolate those numbers any way, but based on the pages and pages of anecdotes we have received, I am almost certain that their numbers will be much worse next year.

In a normal year, by end of July I would have had about 70K-80K BIS miles already- I do, but only 30K on US. I just can't count on them to get me where I need to be reliably.

The product/amenity issues pale in comparison to the state of the operation today. For every positive story we hear in our trip reports section there are 10 negative ones. We know ATC and weather happens to everyone, but it is what happens WHEN things like that happen, compounded by crew issues, the growing number of mechanicals, and the abject failure of QIK/SHARES which sets US apart from other majors.

To be fair, it is not just US by any means. A colleague of mine had an experience with UA at LGA this week which surprised me, and I had to coach him on the phone to get them to rebook him. Flights are full, capacity appears to have been cut too much, and tempers are flaring on both sides of the counter. But the frequency with which it happens coupled with not having the tools to do your jobs puts US over the edge.

Like another poster said, these numbers come from the same folks who think RES migration was a success. I bet those are the same people who think an A321 can make it from PHL to LAX with 200 seats and a full load.....go figure.

I will say, however, as I have said before, that I do miss my friends at US. That for me is the biggest loss. Just because I have stopped flying US for now, I refuse to give up the fight. Stay tuned.

My best to you all......

What about all of the people who got instant gold status this year with little to no flying due to an error?? Convenient error to boost the numbers!!
