As bad and as cramped as the new "improved" envoy seats are, one thing they had that ameliorated the "experience" was the fact that they had a small, pull-down privacy shield between the paired seats. This was a nice feature, so of course USAirways almost immediately disabled all of them. Even though the printed "brag sheet" that they place on all these seats on international flights mentions this feature, none of them work anymore.

Since the space between the two seats is so minimal now, the shield kept your seat-mate's elbows out of your side while you are trying to rest. For those who attempt to sleep on their side, it also prevented you from waking from a sound sleep to find you are nearly nose to nose with a perfect (often less-than-perfect) stranger. It also helped to block any breezes emanating from your seat-mate's mouth. Nothing quite like trying to sleep with a warm breeze of tobacco breath wafting past your nostrils.

Are we going to get these privacy panels back?

What happened to the never ever fixed list, they were bragging about? Are they still supposedly using it and fixing things reported by the employees? Could you email this in to them? More curious to know how the email plan is working out.

Never heard of it. Where do you send those emails? I doubt they would do anything about this particular situation because they intentionally disabled the privacy panels. Probably paid the manufacturer extra for them, too.

It’s in the same management hands as the QIK/SHARES fix list

We (maintance) disabled them because they break as soon as we fix them and when they're broken they are a safety hazard. The seats are very poorly engineered, as is the entire seat and they are a pain in the a** to work on. Oh and did I mention that we don't have the parts to fix them either. Also, if it's a bulkhead row (row 3), you must remove the bulkhead to gain access to the back of the seat to repair it and that can take half the night or better. The entire assembly is crap and the passengers hate them. Personally, I'd rather sit in coach.

UpAllNight,

Thank you for the info. I suspected as much, but do appreciate hearing from someone who actually has dealt with the problem.

All of these issues with the new seat on the 767 is a CRYSTAL CLEAR example of what type of management team we have. If you KNOW that passengers hate them and you KNOW that maintenance has multiple issues with them WHY are you not looking at a different seat? While they "look" better than the old seat they certainly are NOT more comfortable. They are cheap, already busting up yet the company will wave their hand at you like a Jedi and tell you "There's nothing wrong with these seats". "You like these seats". 🙄 They try to insult your intelligence.

Oh those freaking seats are a nightmare right from Wes Craven! Crawling around on the floor hooking up the IFE. Hate Hate Hate them. Can anyone in maintinece tell us if they have the old seats still? Do we have the ability to take these "Majesty" seats out, recover/refurbish the old ones and be done with it?
Majesty they call them? Some king/queen that sleeps on rocks in Bora Bora must have named them. Junk and everyone complains about them. Welcome to the New USAirways 767 Cabin. If you enjoy an MRI, you will love our new Majesty Seats...Well...If yours is working.

This is what we are putting in all the seats! 🙄

Sitting pretty

The new Envoy seats on our 767 fleet offer cutting-edge comfort. In fact, with a name like Majesty, you could say they are fit for royalty. With fully-adjustable features, a near lie-flat design and state of the art technology, these seats will have you sitting pretty.

The process for choosing the Majesty seats began nearly two years ago with he formation of a team from Engineering, Finance, Inflight, Maintenance, Marketing, Planning, Purchasing and Aircraft Acquisitions. Our team worked diligently to select, customize and install the seats which proved to be a colossal task.
First they reviewed multiple suppliers' seats, assessed our competitors' offerings and identified options that would work with our aircraft configuration while providing functionality and added comfort. To help find the right fit, we even brought multiple seats to out corporate headquarters in Arizona, where employees tried them and provided feedback. Numerous meetings, trials and aircraft diagrams later, we choose the Majesty seat from Sicma Aerospace, a French manufacturer.

The next step was to customize the seat for the Envoy look and feel. Since we consider the Majesty seat the crown jewel of our transatlantic fleet, special attention was paid to every detail, from the swoosh design on the custom fabric to the bird's eye maple console.

Crews began installation this past winter and worked nonstop since to make sure your seat offers extraordinary comfort and flexibility. This new configuration reduces the number of seats in Envoy from 24 to 18, creating a more private cabin. Considering that each pair seat costs almost as much as a BMW 7 series, we hope that you'll feel as regal in them as their name suggests.

Those pics are spot on. Seems to be a regular occurrence now huh? I guess it's just all of our imaginations. Simply a way of showing that they don't give a crap. Any word on the companies position on the seats?

The "Sitting pretty" little leaflet they put on the seats is a week old I think. That should tell you what the companies position is on the seats. They can never admit a mistake. I just kept reading it thinking, do you really believe this BS your are spewing? "A colossal task" they say. I say a colossal disaster seeing they are breaking and already being disabled. Each seat cost as much a BMW 7 Series? Wow Tempe, that makes you really really stupid.
😉

What other airline is flying the same exact seat. I'd like to know their position on the seats. Also do the other carriers flying the exact model use it on a 767 2+2+2?

I wonder if these seats are an old discontinued fire sale model? If you "google" Sicma Aerospace Majesty Seats, etc - all you find are articles from 2001?

OOPS, Im kind of wrong... FinnAir installed them in 2005 on their MD-11s

They brought the seat to Tempe where no one has a clue about transatlantic business class service, and made their ignorant decision based on no experience with the service. Why am I not surprised?

You mean the bird's eye maple console that effectively hides 90% of the controls for lighting, power and audio and requires a contortionist to make things work? THAT bird's eye maple console of which you are so proud?

Considering that each pair seat costs almost as much as a BMW 7 series, we hope that you'll feel as regal in them as their name suggests.

If you paid that much for these seats, you were robbed. Proud of that, too, are we?
