Due to 4 incidents, FAA has pulled the 180 to 120 minutes. More fuel being burned now everyday, every flight. Hopefully all the maintenance directors and managers (of which there is overlap) will be held accountable.

For us ETOPs flyers, do you have any details on the incidents? ......short of really poor weather across the North Atlantic, having to fly 180min ETOPs is rare.

It was a bit of a problem tonite but turned out ok.

To detailed to get into, but can be attributed to maintenance if that's what your looking for.

Is there anything that can happen in this place not be blamed on management? You have no idea why the 180 allowance was pulled. Why would you jump out and want people to be held accountable with no knowledge of the issue?

well then enlighten us.... <_<

there has been 4 engine inflight shutdowns in less than 6 months. The last one occurred in SJU. Is that enough info for you? If the company is not responsible for mtc, who is? Yes, your right, no one is held accountable at your company, that seems to be a big part of U's problem.......

Funny thing the engines are NOT overhauled by US Airways Mechanics, they are outsourced to Pratt and Whitney.

US is only responsible for daily maintenance and problems.

Are u sure they are Pratt engines 700? You may want to check on that.

The A330 are Pratt powered.

The 767 are GE powered and the overhaul is outsourced to GE.

Both engines are power by the hour.

No one said anything about the A330. It's the 767 180 that was pulled. Obviously, your not informed about this situation. Those engines have always been outsourced and U has always done the on wing mtc. I'm done.....

SJU was the city mentioned, the A330 flies PHL-SJU-PHL, no plane type was ever said. As the 767 flies CLT-SJU-CLT

And I do not know the situation of which plane type as it was never posted in the thread.

And I have not been on the flight line in awhile, been doing something more important.

you're looking at a CF-6 engine problem kiddies......
so before we cast U maintenance out the window...don't we think it would be fair to get some facts as to why we have been having IFSD'S??
i beleive there were 2 incidents related to fire warn loops and it wasn't attributable to U mechanics, either.
maybe one of our flyboys can chime in please?

planejane, I do believe that you have stumbled on one of the main reasons that companies such as Usairways are in love with outsourcing,, When you have some other company do your work for you, A company can just "wash their hands" of any problem that arises and "point their finger" at the outsourcing company....

Second thing the thread title is misleading:

"Etops Pulled"

ETOPS was not pulled it was changed.

And only changed on one fleet type, US has two A/C with ETOPS.
