Phil, that WAS pointed out above, by both CTD and myself, but the manufacturers of these birds know EXACTLY what their market is and do NOT (nor are they forced to) take adequately into consideration that stark reality.
SHAME on them, just as on Frank Robinson and Art Young. It smacks too much of the Ford Pinto philosophy to me, where management made the judgement that it would cost less to pay the forecast fatality claims than to change the design. Revenue AT ALL COSTS, but safety AT AS LITTLE COST AS POSSIBLE. If this is what the great entrepreneurial spirit has brought us, I say TO HELL WITH IT!
DEMAND SAFETY at the design and manufacturing level, and then at the maintenance, training and operating levels - ALL THE WAY - NOT just with the end users.
