Fare Cuts- End To Airlines As We Know Them?

This says much of what I'm heading toward in the "Why not raise fares" thread. It misses one more subtle point, though, which I hope to get to soon.

Yea yea yea, read the same thing before back in the 80s and 90s. When they rip out all the first class seats and put them in the dumpsters then maybe I will believe it thats its changed for good.

You are correct! If AA is going to mimmic the low cost carriers with fares then they also need to configure the aircraft to mimmic a low cost airline. And flying with F/C seats is a BIG WASTE and demonstrates that AA management is not serious about fixing the airline. They actually want to ADD a row of F/C seats on the MD80 RE-RE-PITCH!
I believe that AA management does not want to give up F/C seats on domestic aircraft because THEY WANT THEM FOR THEMSELFS WHEN THEY TRAVEL.

It is obvious that AA's new lower fare structure is admitting that all today's airline customer cares about is the cheapest seat.
They refuse to give up the past and the high dollar F/C passenger is NEVER coming back.Part of this is due to the increased security hassel at airports and the corporate executives and wealthy people NOW use jet leasing companies for their travel needs.

AA management still does't get it!
