What's new

Farewell, SABRE!

And We Are Making Money Again   Something's Working!! 😉

Sure!! That massive difference in your paycheck and retirement? That's what's working!

Someone is making money. It's not the employees.

Prior to Sabre, PACER was an inhouse production and well implemented. The Wolf-man terminated the IT dept and outsourced everything to Sabre, ostensibly saving $$. Sabre came to mgmt in BK 1 and warned the company not to mess with their contract, or else. US has been paying full price for Sabre all along...I'm glad to see them gone.

US and Sabre reached a new deal in BK1, US did file a motion against Sabre as US was suppose to get the same preferred rates as AA and Sabre was charging them more.

US filed to see AA and Sabre's Contract and Sabre caved and lowered their prices as they did not want US getting ahold of the AA/Sabre Contract.

Me too, I WILL miss SABRE!

This is an old re-gressed POC!

This morn, alot of glitches..Ya could have thougnt EVERYTHING WOULD HAVE BEEN IN PLACE...Huh! Silly me ..
I give it one month..

It might have something to with my 47% w-2 cut and the loss of my pension, less vacation and paying 3 times more in health care, along with all the other East employees that gave way more than we should. Or maybe you been off the last couple of years and think that it's our fine new management in TEMPE!!!!!!!!

Wasn't sabre originally owned by AA?

Yep - developed by AA way back when after they approached the other airlines about developing a joint computer system (similiar to ARINC) and everyone else said "No thanks."

I believe when I had Prodigy, there was a thing called "Eaasy Sabre". The way the doubled the A's made me think that. Thanks. Jim

It's hard to comprehend Sabre being superior for the folks who have only used QIK over Shares. There is no argument, Sabre was (is) a superior operating system for the travel industry. QIK is from the mindset of a young airline and it hasn't been fine tuned to the degree of Sabre. Perhaps with all of the new east users, we can pass along our experiences anda get QIK up to "speed".
The agents will have to figure out what is wrong and stress to management what a reservation system in the US/EAST needs to be functional.

Bring back PACER!
SHARES is what Continental uses. Continental got it from Eastern when Frank Lorenzo rob eastern and transfer all asset to Continental. A lot of native SHARES command entries are like PACER because Piedmont originally use a lot of system one (Eastern) formats. ONLY A SELECT FEW CAN USE NATIVE SHARES NOW

As I recall, you're correct. PACER was the ops side - flight releases, weight/balance, etc.

I too had a sense of nostalgia tonight when I signed out of Quik. You see the last time I signed out of Sabre I never thought I'd be saying Thanks for Flying USAirways again and that was 6 years ago. Now I'm happy to be connecting with some of my olf friends again and again saying Thanks for flying USAirways. It's a much better airline now--thanks to HP.
Are you absolutely kidding me????? Yes honey, something had to give or we were headed towards the end, however I'm not thanking HP for sh!t!! They weren't going anywhere either but their problems hadn't begun yet. We're now officially the Trailer Park of ALL US based airlines (even AirTran and Frontier have Sabre), people cannot even sit in the last row of the 330, the airplanes that are used for the Shuttle have less leg room than a CRJ, the website barely works enough to even sell a ticket, and for god sake what the hell is it with this "final report"? Can't even tell who the nonrevs are, there are codes on there that even the gate agent's can't figure out (much less useful for a flight crew). You'd think if they're going to waste all of that paper (not cost neutral by the way) that they'd actually put something useful on it. PLEASE!! Thanks to HP!! Thank THIS!!!
