Flts Being Cnxld

4 LAX trips on the 767/757 to HNL/KOA/OGG/HNL w/o f/o's for the 20th. Even w/ senior manning these trips are still open. Crew skd is panicing.

Is it just mainline UA or is it effecting TED as well? UA is spending some money on some new ground equipment in LAS for TED. Saw some new beltloaders and tugs on a truck 2 weeks ago. So some things must be going well. Just my thoughts...

I thought you were talking about the newest UEX carrier, MESA. The Mesa pilots were talking about it on www.mesalounge.com in the thread "A new operational low" - I think they cancelled 60 flights in one day due to maintenance and staffing issues. (although many were undoubtably USAir Express flights as well)

We are critically understaffed on the pilot side. The lines of flying have been built to the max with min days off. It is only taking one 30 minute ATC delay and most of the pilots are over the max allowed hours. This is not a slowdown issue it is just that the lines of flying have been built with the fewest possible bodies and "weather and ATC delays happen" There is a person at EXO that it was his responsibility to assure staffing for the increased summer schedule. Unfortunately he did not heed this heads up and we are being forced to cancel flights.

I spoke with the crew desk last night when they called me a 2pm to fly a LHR trip at 6pm. (on my day off) Told me that the flight would cxl if I could not do it. I am on the trip right now. The downside is they are have to now find someone to fly my normal LHR trip on Wednesday. It just moves the problem a couple of days. But the crew desk said they are starting each day with a deficit of about 20 to 30 Capts and F/O's. I took a look at the reserves around the system each fleet and pretty much every reserve is flying. Very few available pilots.

We all want this company to succeed and are pitching in to help. So please do not tag slow down with a true manpower issue.

sounds like summer of 2000 . Thank u Dubinsky for sinking UAL
too bad he cant be beheaded

It's not a pilot issue...Manpower planning majorly screwed up!!!! Now were paying (along with all the passengers and furloughed pilots) for it. Hey CSR's please don't blame the pilots. We are not on a slowdown!!

Hmm, I assume this person will be promoted to one of the new EVP positions within UAL, that's how it works, right?

Maybe the ATSB was wise in its decision? 🙁
