Water bottle scare on US Express flt

I love the way you manage to tie President Bush into this thread. Why not blame the Dems and the ACLU that prohibits profiling. The Isrealis look for people, we look for "things". Lets start looking for middle easterm men and woman. It sure wasn't an Elvis impersonator that killed 3000 Americans.

Timothy McVeigh, Terry Nicholes and Eric Rudolf were all American boys. How do we profile for our own homegrown terrorists? Should we look for disgruntled white men?
Former US military? Christians?

Remember the Weathermen and "the Days of Rage"?

"Hello, I'm going to read a declaration of a state of war...within the next 14 days we will attack a symbol or institution of American injustice." ~ Bernardine Dohrn of the Weather Underground

Oh no! An American woman terrorist, bombing the Capitol building?!

The only way to stop terrorism is to stop pi$$ing folks off. Anyone capable of extreme passion is capable of terror.

...I don't expect the paper to actually know the operating airline, but they should at least be able to say it was a US Express flight.

Shirley-

The public see's no difference between what is "mainline" and what is "wholly owned", and since the two work together, who care's what the newspaper says? What's your beef? Still upset that RJ's and Dash's are flying some of the old USAir routes? Man, it's been a long time and it's about time everyone just starts pulling together and stops putting up this attitude that one is more important than the other. Without one, there wouldn't be the other. Be happy you still don't have to "work" to make a living, and back off on the attempts to knock down those that aren't yet flying "real" airliners. If you aren't aware, there is a contractual flow-through in place for PSA and PDT pilots, so get ready....you'll soon be sharing a cockpit with "express" pilots. One thing you can be sure of: They'll actually be happy and privileged to be doing what you're so unhappy with.

WRONG

There is no contractual flow through agreement.

There used to be, but when MDA ceased to exist, the agreement became a useless piece of paper.

Go to the CEL page. We have the CHOICE of either MDT or USAIRWAYS. There will be a flow through. Where else will you get pilots for the 190s? The fur. guys dont want it.

Actually, you're wrong. There has always been a flow through, and nothing has changed other than the fact that MDA is no longer an option.

What would you rather have.....wholly-owned guys or Mesa pilots sitting next to you? If the company hired only off the street, there would be a huge influx of guys from every P.O.S contract carrier out there!

I don't see what the reason is for resistance to the flow-through anyways. It would only happen AFTER the furloughs had been called back!!

Whoa there! I was not out to attack express....just thought it was curious that the CLT observer didn't make a distinction. As has been pointed out on these pages before: the news media overall, for some reason, rarely make the distiction between the mainline carrier and its huge express operation; they are (generally) more likely do so when reporting on ther other carriers and their express opertions. If there is some incident with an American Eagle flight, it will usually be reported as such and not as "American Airlines flght XXX".

Lets forget I mentioned the CLT Observer story and get back on topic: that there was such a reaction to water bottle; cabin crews discover "contraband" H2O bottles, Starbucks cups, and the like all the time, usually the "contraband" is confiscated. The topic on the FT thread was whether the crew (or the authorities)over-reacted.

MODS: Please feel free to shut this topic down if it does not get back on track.

Then tell me the purpose behind the meetings between US Airways ALPA and PDT/PSA ALPA concerning a flow through agreement. According to our own MEC, there is no agreement. Do you think the combinded AAA/AWA contract (if there ever is one) will recognize an agreement that isn't even recognized now?

I certainly hope that someday there will be a flow through agreement. It should have happened years ago. But from what I have heard from the two wholly owned unions, there is no current agreement.

They do a pretty good job at the border right now profiling. why not on airplanes???????

the sad part is I think it is inhumane that tsa wont allow pax to take water say from a store at gate area which is beyond security. next thing could be food. i think this should change

At least the paper didn't say "USAir Flight 2275 was seven miles from the Little Rock airport when the stewardesses reported the liquids"
