Have a high schooler traveling to some tournaments out of PIT to TPA. Have heard the new requirement for bags is a "hard" case type. Is this true? Or better yet, what travel golf bags are the best? Have heard of the Club Golf Burst Proof Bag - OGIO, any others that hold up well? Thanks!

I use a TravelPro golf bag. I've had it for about ten years and it still is in great shape. It is made by the same folks that make our crew luggage. Another good one is Club Glove. Runs about 150-200, but you get what you pat for. Alot of Pros use these. It also depends on the clubs you have. I made a good investment on clubs, so I didn't skimp on the travel bag. Hope that helps.

Great - thanks for the suggestions. I actually bought an OGIO on EBay - but it's to be used as a cart bag and they don't allow the boys to use carts....I have seen the Club Glove, will check on it. You're right - paying what we've paid for drivers, etc....it's worth paying for a good case. Will also look at the TravelPro. I had heard if the cases are not hard, the airline will not cover any damages. Only makes sense.

I am an employee, so they wouldn't cover anything of mine anyway. My travel bag is rigid olong the bottom, but soft on 3 sides. It also folds up easy for storage.

Speaking of employee shipments, has anyone tried the employee cargo shipment yet? Was wondering how that works. I called the travel department a few weeks back and they told me to call another 800# for some kind of shipping number but I never got that far.

Hopefully yours is better than ours (WN). Employees are not allowed to ship personal cargo.

It used to be with manager's approval.

Before that.....Heck when I moved to DAL I shipped half my stuff via cargo from SLC back in the mid-90's.

Gotta love the TSA.

Short of signing our paychecks they control everything else we do here.

What is WN's rationale for denying you guys the ability to ship personal cargo? I would think this would be a perk that Southwest employees deserve, considering how much movement through the system a lot of your employees endure.
