In which cities, east & west, does HP/US handle our own freight & mail?

In PDX, HP handles their own mail....NW used to handle their freight (HP drivers would bring it back and forth from the gates), but IIRC, Horizon does it now.

These functions have been long gone from all of the East stations....
And they were outsourced long before the BK days.... 🙁

TPA was contracted out. West to CO and East to ?. They are moving the West from CO to whomever handles the East in the coming weeks.

I know that there has to be more than two cities HP/US that handles their own freight and mail? Come on co-workers, chime in.

the last I checked, Non-union and higher paid Continental was handling all mail and freight at ORD as allowed under the IAM iron-clad contract.

Once again you leave out all the facts.

Mail and freight were contracted out in 1992 when you were non-union.

You worked under one regular contract and you can't get everything back in a first agreement.

Then two bankruptcies and three rounds of concessions.

And you forget CO last year imposed concessions on its non-union employees.

Speaking of air freight, in the zeal to outsource, it's truly sad that all the stations that have been farmed out to Express have had their air freight/mail revenue drop to ZERO, as the planes are so small and weight restricted, they can't carry the luggage for the customers let alone ANY freight/air mail, or ANY oversize cargo such as coffins, etc.

at my city, we used to put a ton of mail and freight including hrs on the jets. since the sell out of our city, our freight house closed up shop for good. 🙁

At one time, Mail and Freight were a BIG source of revenue for the company. This is just another of those money making things that were not all that important to the former US East Mgmt. boys...We were losing so much money anyway, so why bother to try and make any with Cargo. 🙁

700, look, the dude asked a question I answered and I don't think he wanted me to go into some long historical story.
Why do you feel you have to defend the IAM when people ask a honest question?

And to be sure, who in the hell wants to be union if they can work for a company that 'imposes' wages that are 20% greater than what the union can get?
Let's see, this is union and this is how much union makes $15.60. This is non-union, and this is the 'imposed' non-union wage..$19.45....any questions? ANd also deduct another .30 cents an hour for dues for the union man.
Puh leeessse!

And before you remind me, I can hear you now defending how the IAM is not responsible for the industry worst of worst because US AIRWAYS went into bankruptcy twice, 911 happened, other airlines went bankrupt, Bush is president, workers are apathetic and don't care, Jerry Glass, management doesn't know what it's doing, and natural disasters in New Orleans, and Tsunomis in foreign lands. As you would say, the piss clam IAM is simply not responsible. If I missed any other reason why 700 sez the IAM is not responsible then someone please clue me in.

Regarding elementary debate principles and the IAM, let me suggest that you don't defend them by pointing out all the reasons why they have failed but rather point to something they have done that has been anything more worthy than 'piss clams' on a beach.

regards,

For your information 700, freight and mail wasn't contracted out until the iam came in. it is my understanding that HP is doing US freight & mail in the cities where they do their own. Does anyone know which cities those are?

Wrong,

Mail and freight was outsourced at most stations during the bloodbath of 1992. The IAM was not certified until 1995.
