What's new

Goodluck

ALPO never had a problem outsourcing 'every one else' so why would I support ALPO?
When walking the NWA picket line at SFO, I asked a NWA captain what will he do when they come for your job?
No answer, just run to the gate for his departure,
See how the worm has turned?
When Unions don"t support Unions, this is what you get.

DOH!

Truthiest.

this is an issue not just for pilots but for FAs as well.

The issue is allowing Norwegian Air to use the same laws of convenience and system that eliminated jobs from the shipping industry in most "first world" countries to apply the same system to the airline industry.

Note that the message - and the campaign - has been led by DL pilots and its management who is trying to protect jobs for American workers.

xUT, I do agree with what you are saying, But......  We never stood up for ourselves when our jobs started to get outsourced. We had and still have unions that represent the M&R that could care less about our profession. We had a membership that mostly did not take its head out of the sand and had no direction on how to. So, why would you expect other workgroups to fight our fight?

It is now hitting the flight crews. They realize it and have started fighting. It was our fault for keeping these company unions on the property for the situation we are in, not anybody else. As hard as we got hit, we do need to support other work groups if they ask.

As for the NWA situation, I have nothing to say. It was a shame how all the other work groups kept on working. In the end, everybody lost.

WT, lets not exaggerate on the whole " trying to save American jobs ". They are trying to save THEIR American jobs. They couldn't care about your or my American job. I am not knocking them for fighting to save their own behind, but lets speak the truth here.

Oh please.

What is it you always say about cleaning up one's own house first?

Wow. So much for solidarity and supporting your "brothers and sisters". Why so much hatred and negativity? Is it just perceived superiority complex of pilots and other labor groups?

And for the record the union is ALPA, not ALPO.

sure they are... but ALL Jobs are American Jobs. And this is not just about pilots. Planes that touch US soil and don't fly the flag or have employyes with passports of the country on one end or another of the flight are taking jobs from all Americans. Do you think that Norwegian is going to contract with UA or any other legacy carrier to ground handle their operations?

And again, DL is bringing more jobs back to mainline legacy airline employees than any other US airline.

I don't see UA's rate of outsourcing decreasing... but perhaps you can help me if I have missed something.

Josh
you got it.

I'm sure the next go around the IAM will go down from seven stations to four stations and allow express work at those hubs to be given to a vendor!

I don't, but it wasn't me who just tried to paint DL as the savior of America's Working Class.

DL is trying to save American jobs?

How many Americans are in HAECO or TAECO or ST Aerospace in Asia that DL uses?

Or how many jobs are they saving by opening a maintenance facility in Mexico?
