I haven't been over here in quite a while, so I must confess that I'm blissfully ignorant of USAirways' current situation. As a UAL furloughee, I find myself increasingly detached from the industry.
I know that USAirways and UAL employees have had our differences in the past, but we need each other as *alliance partners. There is a decent additional revenue stream that we see due to our partnership. As an example, my girlfriend flies USAirways almost exclusively to see me, in spite of being a UAL FF. You're both more convenient and less expensive.
And for those of you who haven't been following the developments of today, it looks like Independence Air will be in default of its Airbus loans; hopefully that will ease a bit of pressure on USAirways.
