Actually, I believe the fine was forgiven to the APA in exchange for operating TWA LLC.

I thought it was originally coming out of their retirement plan. I do recall that some sort of concession was given so they wouldn't have to pay the fine. I agree though that the flight attendants would be killing themselves by taking matters into their own hands. I'm not saying that they have any other choice either. The flight attendents have known about the transfer of their pensions for months now and have decided to try to do something about it at the last minute. Nice planning. :down:

I looked it up. It was originally $45.5 million. They paid it down to $26 million. The balance was written off in 2003 as part of the concessions to avoid bankruptcy.

They can't legally strike, and the AFA's lawyers know it. That's why there hasn't been any CHAOS actions to date. To paraphrase one of Shakespeare's characters (at least I think it was Shakespeare), all of the AFA's pronouncements are "a lot of sound and fury signifying nothing."
