DALLAS (U.S. Newswire) - Despite posting 57 percent profit for the 4th quarter today, contract negotiations between Southwest Airlines flight attendants and management still remain stalled. The flight attendants have been working without a new contract for 20 months, which is longest time in Southwest Airline's 32-year history that an employee group has worked without a contract.

F/as should get paid for lost time and down time when they are actively working, cleaning planes etc....

USAirways f/as not only clean 32 stations in between flights, but unlike SW, we serve on the ground, perform f/c service, and many duties before we even push off, and our "flight clock" starts when wheels are in motion on their own (which just commenced on 1/1/04).

SW wage "top out" is 10% higher than USA. And that effects more of our f/as as we are a more mature work group at present.

We have a defined pension, unlike SW, but they have a generous 401K match, along with bonuses, and profitsharing uncapped, and stock options.

We on the other hand, have none of those, and our pension has a 50% Social security offset, so you work out those numbers. As far as profit sharing in 2007 and 08, IT IS CAPPED AT THE FIRST $100 MILLION FOR THE RANK BUT NOT SENIOR EXECS.

Here is a novel idea USA320Pilot and all the other pilots that think having the FA's clean the planes between legs will save the company lot's of money. Why don't the pilots take turns cleaning the cabin and see how painless and easy it is. Instead of running off the plane to grab a snack or newspaper (oh, never mind.....you already grabbed a free one off the airplane) stay behind and cross seatbelts and empty out the seat pockets of all the rubbish.
Try working eight legs (I forgot that was only the BAC-111, I'm dating myself) and not even catching your breath or sitting down for a second before they are ready to board again. Share the pain guys.....it's only fair.

Most of the pilots already do that here at PSA. Once I'm done up front, I always go to the back and help the FA fold seatbelts and pick-up trash. Granted, we only have 32 seats, but at least we try.

if i am not mistaken the article says that sw f/a start at 14,000 and a median income of 26,000. i would like to know what there topout is. i find it very hard to beleive that sw f/a make more than u f/a's . i have been here 8 yrs and my last paystub for 2003 said that my year to date earnings was 42,710.92. now i think that's pretty good for being here 8 yrs and not at top out . and that is very good for just working about 15-16 days a month asking people if they want an inflight cafe meal and a drink with that. i mean i do not want to insult the f/a proffession, but it is a very very easy job and we get paid very well for it. my pay stub proves that. so that thing that sw gets paid more than u is very hard to beleive

I do believe I heard that SW f/a's have or almost have the highest top out of the majors. They do make more than U f/a's.

hey i am all for cleaning a/c (if i get paid for it) . like i posted before, this is an easy job and it pays well ,in my opinion. i don't have to take it home. i leave it on the a/c. i have had other jobs before this and let me tell you this is a piece of cake compared to a REAL 9-5 job. some f/a's do not see that nor understand it. i some times hear f/a's say " i would rather go work at mc' donalds than give them more concessions". my respond. " be my guest" . i will look for you guys when i want to get a double quarter pounder meal at the mcy d's in terminal a-west. hope you give me an employee discount. :huh:

That would mean that if you did not take a 8.4% wage hit, you would be close to $50,000. Sorry Charlie, I am in a position to know. Consider youself lucky to gorss $27,000!

An 8 year reserve does not break guarantee, and certainly did not the past two months. You are in my range and that's impossible, and YOU are no f/a.

a pit , baby iam sorry but i have had the gift of being born to puerto rican parents therefore i speak spanish therefore making me a lodo . therefore holding a line. dosent make be better than a reg f/a but it does help. and sweety i am looking at my paystub as i type . my year to date earnings for 2003 was 42,710.92
i sat down with mny wife who is ua f/a and worked it out and it was right on the money. i save all my pay stubs .all. i know what iam talking about . you dont want to beleive pm me with your home adress and i will send you a photo copy of my pay stub.
