🙁 Terry Churcott passed away yesterday July 12th at 17:45.
Do not know any particulars about service arrangements.

😱 😱 My condolences to his family and to Highland, I briefly knew Terry, he was gonna give me a summer ground crew job@ one of their bases if base ops was good enough at that base but it did not work out,but he gave me a chance (a 16 year old who loves this industry) to be ground crew. Terry was a great person and will be missed.

My condolences.

Matt

The industry has lost a great man. Terry will be fondly remembered for his sense of humour and his amazing skill at autorotations with a jetbox. My condolences to his brother Rick and the rest of his family.

My condolences go out to Terry's family, friends and everyone at Highland. As a low time pilot, looking for work, Terry was one of the few people that spent an extended amount of time with me. His advice and words of encouragement were greatly appreciated at a time when not too many people were willing to give me the time of day. Terry will be missed! 🙁

My condolences go out to his friends and family.

I met Terry the same way many of the people above did - as a 100 hour pilot looking for work. I continued to run into Terry in the years to come as I built my time with other companies. He was always kind to me and will be missed.

I met Terry once or twice, it does'nt really matter how many times, I knew enough about him and Highland through the grapevine that I know that his type will be sadly missed in the industry.

My condolences to the remainder of the clan.

Terry was a person very much who shared my love of the industry.

Take care guy and see you shortly.

Cheers, Don

I never met the man face to face, but in talking to him on the phone and hearing others speak about him I know that he was a great asset to our little industry.

My thought go out to his co-workers, friends and family. Rest in peace brother.

I'm not sure if posting this is untasteful or not but I thought some friends who haven't seen Terry in a while might appreciate the information.

Rest In Peace

hey PL,

an obituary is meant to get the word out to the masses. Don't feel its any disrespect to pass on the info. Many of us had to hear it through the rumour mill as to what happened.

I had the pleasure of working for Terry for a few years ('90-'92). I never flew a revenue hour for them then, but he gave me a few ferry flights and a few hundred ground runs. TC was a wonderful person and a great pilot. During training he would often have a cup of coffee with him. I've seen him perform autos and other maneuvers while holding the cup with his cyclic hand, absolutely some of the finest flying I've ever seen.

Highland lost a great leader and the industry has lost a great friend.

Thanks for the posting everyone, being down here in Texas I am sometimes out of touch with the Helicopter industry up there. Yes I to worked with Highland for quite a few years in the nineties. Always looked forward to Terry's yearly visit to ours bases in Red Earth. Highlevel, Peace River etc etc etc. It's ironic I was just thinking about dropping in to there office next time I was up there for a visit. Thanks again for the info and ya maggy you hit the nail on the head.

Fly safe and high with the big guy Terry.
Tony.

Like many of us, I'm sure, I could write a lot of words about the contribution Terry made to our industry, and the hundreds of people he befriended. The bright-eyed Hiller 12E pilot I met back up the Nahanni when he had an engine failure back in the early 70's became a solid friend even though our paths crossed all too rarely. His last words to me, not long before we lost him, were as cheerful as those when I flew in my Jetbox to bring him out, and I'm sure the smile was as wide as ever.

God speed to one of the best of us. May we all be missed as much.

I too had the pleasure of see a great pilot in action. I never say another do auto's the way Terry did.
He surely will be missed. 🙁
