Nurse Ratched seems to have the elixir for everything that ails America, just ask her!

MANCHESTER, N.H. - Hillary Clinton predicted Saturday that just electing her President will cut the price of oil.

When the world hears her commitment at her inauguration about ending American dependence on foreign fuel, Clinton says, oil-pumping countries will lower prices to stifle America's incentive to develop alternative energy.

Well .."12", I believe Hillary will make BIG OIL an "offer they can't refuse"

(Bush Type) HUGE tax breaks= Lower Gas prices

OR

(Current) High gas prices = NO TAX BREAKS !!

Pick your poison

She has to first sell her liberal House and Senate who won't exactly see it that way.

Or is this an indication she too is in Big oil's pocketbook with Bush and Cheney?

Too bad its not that simple Bears, BIG OIL (OPEC) does'nt set the price anymore.

The world’s oil suppliers have lost their ability to control the market, the U.S. energy secretary said Friday in Calgary.

The world’s producers are unable to turn the spigot and increase supplies, and therefore are unable to control oil prices, said Secretary of Energy Samuel Bodman.

“They have ceded control to the traders,â€￾ Bodman told reporters in Calgary. “The prices for crude oil are now set in New York and London and Tokyo, Singapore and other trading hubs around the world.

In today's complex global markets, the price of crude oil is set by movements on the three major international petroleum exchanges, all of which have their own Web sites featuring information about oil prices. They are the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX, http://www.nymex.com), the International Petroleum Exchange in London (IPE, http://www.ipe.uk.com) and the Singapore International Monetary Exchange (SIMEX, http://www.simex.com.sg).

...On a side note, In order for the USA to become free from middle east oil we are going to have to make some hard decisions. we can start by drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR), off the coast of california, etc... Or we can count on having troops in the M/E indefinately.

She could do like Willie did and release the defense stockpile.
It worked when he did it; reduced gas prices $0.02! 🙄

She may not be off base, but it won't be within days of taking office. Bush has done nothing to reduce our dependence on oil...foreign or domestic. Oh..let's drill in the ANWR or offshore...but that does nothing to suppress demand...it only tries to keep up with our ever growing demand. It doesnt' matter if we drill in everybody's backyard...it's not going to reduce prices...if we start drilling in the ANWR or offshore, SOMEBODY'S gonna have to pay the start up costs...and it ain't Exxon or BP. The net result...high prices. What we need to do is reduce our DEMAND for foreign oil - seems like the only way we can do that is through SOME sort of government intervention...either higher CAFE standards (and INCLUDING those "work truck" Hummer's and Suburban's that every housewife needs to bring home the groceries) or by a gas tax.

When the most popular selling "family" vehicles in the past decade have been glorified trucks, and those very trucks are EXEMPT from the CAFE standards because they are...well...trucks...NICE trucks, but trucks nonetheless, then we haven't addressed reducing demand. So...why bother bumping up the CAFE standards to 35 mpg...keep it at 25 - but INCLUDE THE SUV'S in the calculation. Go ahead and exempt the legitimate "work trucks". Although I have no doubt that should that happen, the push would be on to make a Peterbilt semi cab the new yuppie vehicle of choice.

The fact that the government gives me a $2,000 for driving a Prius, but gives somebody else a $10,000 tax credit for buying a Hummer doesn't do much to help reduce demand. If someone wants the "work truck" exemption, then tweak the law a little bit....any vehicle that has vinyl or cloth seats, no DVD player, raised white letter tires on 22 inch rims, or any other "luxury" item would qualify as a "work truck". I kind of like the Oklahoma deal...I guess it's a way around vehicle taxes, but wouldn't a nice shiny Escalade with COMMERCIAL VEHICLE emblazoned across it's rear bumper look great with all the other bling? Make the letters the most awful color known to man (the baby puke yellow of old Mercede's comes to mind). These are just some thoughts.

Some valid points KC......our Chinese friends also are gobbling up oil to satisfy the US and global demand for oil based products at an alarming rate.

Go ahead and exempt the legitimate "work trucks". Although I have no doubt that should that happen, the push would be on to make a Peterbilt semi cab the new yuppie vehicle of choice.

You seen this gem?

Drilling for more oil does nothing but screw up another wild life reserve. We are still dependent on a fuel source that we need to ween our self from.

We need to break the hold the oil companies have and start developing alternate power resources. Wind, Solar, Hydro, Hydrogen .. etc. Until that happens, we are at the mercy of others.

JMHO, It does not matter. Our politicians are never held accountable for their lies and deceit. They can say and/or do pretty much anything and get away with it. We know it and do nothing; they know it and do everything. Not to worry as I bought a generator and a 50 CAL !

OK, all you car/truck/hummer etc. DUDES.
I've got a question.

On a flat surface, what particular vehicle could go thru the deepest snow ?

Specifically deep soft powder snow?

I'm guessing/wondering, that THE vehicle, that has the highest CLEARANCE from the ground to the bottom of the truck, would be th answer.
Obviously It would be a 4x4, and most likely an 8 cylinder ?

And would adding "full chains, all around" add to said vehicle's ability to go thru "DEEP" snow, in the specific question that I posed ?

Thank you In advance...fellow.."Cooler ITES"

The vehicle with the highest clearance between the differential/front and rear axles and the road. You can jack the body up to the clouds...and it don't mean dick.
