The police is right now in front at the Hotel and there are hostages inside.

This is a scary story. I wish safety and Godspeed everyone in that hotel, especially our colleagues.
 
I hope the get this situation under control. Hopefully the crew stays safe in the rooms until the authorities arrive. Let me guess, GIG will go into the reserve book for tomorrow? Sorry couldn't resist that one. 😉 Seriously, I hope everyone stays safe. It must be scary to be in that situation.

This is a big deal considering 30 hostages were taken at the very hotel our crews stay at and a woman getting out of a taxi was shot and killed . Im assuming we had 2 crews there at the time...so we are talking almost 20 crew members... If anyone knows that our crew members were not involved please provide the information for all of us!!!
The hotel committee fought the company on this hotel from the day we started staying there and after having 2 overnights in Rio myself I agreed and still agree that the location is not the best. Did it keep me in my room for 34 hours? No. You have to use common sense wherever you are, but now that this has happened I hope the company looks at getting us out of this location.
Having said that, Im going to go ahead and get my bags packed for Rio as Im reserve and figure Itll be going much more jr in the future.
 
Well it went senior tonight and senior tomorow night. These senior people don't care if there was a major disaster over there. They still will go.

I was in GIG for the opening. I didnt feel unsafe but certainly wasnt unaware of what was going on around me. Impenema was great. Its about a mile North of where the Intercontinental is. I hope our crews were not involved and hope that they are going to be home safe.

Question. While passing thru CLT yesterday. We heard that one of the crewmembers was left behind, after calling sched. and claiming fatigue after this incident. The crew supposedly ferried home leaving that F/A there. Truth? or Rumor?
