Hotel in GIG is invaded by bandits

Question. While passing thru CLT yesterday. We heard that one of the crewmembers was left behind, after calling sched. and claiming fatigue after this incident. The crew supposedly ferried home leaving that F/A there. Truth? or Rumor?
FALSE. Amazing how some of these 'nonsense' stories circulate. Crew originally decided to DELAY the departure several hours only to have ONE F/A play the "FATIGUE" card. Several other F/A's decided they thought it was a prudent decision. NO ONE was left behind and the flight US801 DID operate........you can VERIFY it via Catcrew. Personally, I think the Crew should have FERRIED the a/c out of there, which would have cancelled the Outbound flight. Another alternative would have been to operate an extra section to accomodate the GIG-CLT northbound flight. People that Do Not know the particulars have no idea what a dangerous situation these employees were IN.........and I am NOT going to explain it to You either. This hostage situation COULD have ended up VERY DIFFERENTLY and hopefully Management will SEE the NEED to RELOCATE the Crews IMMEDIATELY. RIO is probably No More Dangerous than NYC, LAX,MIA or DCA..........you just need to use better judgement in picking a Crew Hotel that isn't located RIGHT Smack in a Ghetto. (Just because it's an Intercontinental Hotel doesn't mean "It's Grand").

Actually the flight US801 on that day (Aug/21) was cancelled, the crew members were at the hotel lobby when
one of the F/A said she was not feeling well and then began vomiting and they agreed not to take the bus to the airport, got the keys to their rooms back and they worked flight 9010 that left GIG next morning at 1057 and arrived CLT at 2030.

AstroLounge is right, you can verify it via Catcrew but you need to use Aug/22 instead of Aug/21 for flight 801.

Different treatment was given by Delta Airlines to their employees. After evaluating the situation the airline decided to cancel the flight to ATL and deadheaded them to their final destination as most of the crew members, if not all, were commuters.

That is what US Airways should have done. The shooting started at about 7:20AM and the situation remained out of control until at least 2PM, all guests had to stay on their rooms until the police went to each room to check if there were any gunmen trying to hide there.

Needless to say that nothing was open at the hotel and at the mall behind the hotel so, after all this stressful time everyone was hungry and there was no place eat around.

Why do you think I work here? I love US Airways because they put their employees FIRST, FIRST, FIRST! ! ! Thumbs up! ! ! 🙄 I bet that poor crew was exhausted and just wanted to get the hell out of there and go home. It would have been nice for them to D/H too. Hmmm Again..... US putting it's employees FIRST, FIRST, FIRST! ! ! 😉

I was actually on this flight. they A-sectioned the original flight and operated the flight the next day as flight 9010. So on the 22nd US AIRWAYS had two operational flights. It was the perfect solution simply because all airlines were full or oversold and these passengers would have been stuck there for several days. The flight left GIG around noon landing in CLT around 830, after clearing customs ect all east coast passengers had to spend the night in CLT. Its was an ordeal to say the least, however I think everyone got home to their destinations this morning or afternoon.

After hearing WHAT R-e-a-l-l-y happened (from someone ON The Crew)........I am wondering did the F/A who had a spell of vomiting afflict them (it didn't happen) deal with THIS before or after they spent the majority of THEIR time on Facebook.......uhhm, the whole event seemed to make the net via Facebook............you know that 'juvenille' based website that people feel the need to log on to tell everything THEY Do............as "IF" I care. Some of these people need to GET A LIFE and hopefully The Company will deal with these clowns in a SWIFT,Heavy Handed and Make No Bones About it Way. (People in their 40/50/60's carrying on like adolescent teens in junior high. Only thing worse would be seeing all the Senior Grannies dress up in a T-shirt & short shorts (ala Southwest) exposing all their cellulite and vericose veins. GROW UP Already!
