The only thing that Twig has proven is that there are lots of identity voters amongst Democrats.

I wouldn't be too proud of some of those firsts. Carol Moseley Braun was a one-term wonder, and the only reason she won was because Illinois' vote is owned by City of Chicago residents. If Chicago were its own state, Illinois would be blood red. And she was outsted by a Republican...

But more important, Twig missed the fact that the first THREE black Senators were all Republican. Mosely Braun was the fourth. If the Dems are such a progressive party, they sure took a long time to get around to electing someone of color...

Same story in the House. There were a couple dozen black Congressmen elected between 1870 and 1935, which is when the first Democratic Congressman of color was elected.

Let's talk about women...

The first five Congresswomen elected were all Republicans, including the first Jewish woman elected to office. Evah.

Hispanics?

First Hispanic Senator and first three Hispanic Congressmen were all Republicans.

So please, do go and point out how those firsts. Twig had some slim pickings since the firsts in all those other categories were owned by Republicans...

So did Carter. Big whoop? Bush very much wore his religion on his sleeve and tried to ram his beliefs down our throats. Hell, he said "god told me to end tyranny in Iraq'. Perhaps he should have asked for an out side opinion before he went off and sent 5,000 soldiers to their death.

Again, who cares that Cheney was married for 50 years? He got 5 deferments to keep out of Nam. He got 2 DUI's and was expelled from Yale twice. In 1994 he said going in to Iraq and taking out Hussein would be a quagmire and a huge mistake yet in 2003 he went for it and it turned out to be a huge quagmire. He shot a friend on a trip and did not report for 24 hours and the list goes on. Cheney would not know what 'character' was if Wal Mart had a blue light special on it.

Oh good grief read a history book once in a while. Republican in the 1800's and early 1900's were not the republicans of the last half of the 1900's which is why I did not include them. In the mid 60's the dems who were not in favor of integration and civil rights defected and became the 'New Republicans' so please do us all a favor and don't try to convince us that the Larrazolo elected in 1928 was a republican by todays standards. That dog just won't hunt.

Whether they were success or not is irrelevant. There are politicians of all stripes that fall into that category. The issue is that they were not white male property owners like all the others. They were different and they were Dems because Dems have always been more (not always but more) for common man (read everyone other than the common man) than republicans have and are.

Actually, Hattie Caroway was the first woman elected to Congress and she was a "democrat" who I did not include because the Dems of the 1920 are not the dems of the late 1900's either.

First Hispanic Senator was Joseph Montoya and the first Hispanic Rep was Kiki de la Garza. First female Hispanic was republican Lehtine elected in 1989 but Takemoto beat her in 1965 as the first woman of color in Congress.

Then you can look at the over all numbers. There have been two republican female Hispanics in the House, Lehtinen and Herrera but there have been 8 democrats. Over all hispanic numbers? 39 Dems and 13 in the House. And that does not include Nydia Velazquez from NY who was elected in 1992. She is Puerto Rican.

How long do you want to play this game? The numbers for the Dems are not great but they are a dam site better than the republicans.

'Hill could run/win in '16, and decide to not ron in '20, if thats what she wanted to do.

But either way,.........She WINS by HUGE numbers in '16.
PLUS.......the F'd-Up REPLUGS.............AIN'T GOT NO ONE, Nothing/Nada/EL-ZIPPO, unless you want to Embarrass yourself by bringing up names like CRUZ or PAUL.
As for Rubio, the dude is having an IDENTITY Crisis. His 'Cabeza' is overloaded with trying to decide if he's a Conservative whack-job, or a new-age REPLUG...interested about immigration reform !
Either way, the latin voting community can't STAND him, with the exception being the "SAVE little ELIAN"...shiit-heads in south Miami !

Plus, the Clinton fundraising machine ain't what it used to be. It took until January 2013 to finally pay down the $12M or so in debt her 2008 campaign still had, and that's not including the $13M she loaned the campaign and had to write off.

There's an entire election cycle in between now and then.


50.1% of the people's vote doesn't matter. It's 50.1% of the electoral votes.

Let's see which blue states stay blue, especially after ObummerCare kicks in. Immigration reform has taken a back-seat to Miley Cyrus and Syria...

Michigan is already at grave risk, and so is Wisconsin. It's possible that the gun-grabbers have doomed Colorado and perhaps New Mexico.

Make all the predictions you wish, but lots can happen in three years, Bears.
