...and Furlough Notices will be handed out with the IBT's contract. Pick your poison.
i doubt that the IBT will send out furlough notices given in light of how the iam sold their brothers and sisters since january of this year

Doubt all you wish...but the reality is based on scope , which protects jobs.

The IAM nor the IBT will do any actual Furloughs....Furloughs are driven by Company imposed staffing levels period.

Without the Scope that the IAM contract provides...a situation where NO representation has growing momentum. This situation plays into the New U's hands in every respect.

Without an insured contract that protects Old U's cureent levels of work.....Job Loses will take place. Anything that affects CLT or PIT Base Maintenance's Manning levels will create a shock-wave throughout the entire system....Single Carrier status....and the loss of Scope will send hundreds to the street....and more work than anyone cares to imagine will be handed to third party vendors outside the US. HP's record and U's Judge driven rulings on the A330 , B767 / B757 and 50% of the B737-300/400 work shows this to be true. Without a sound contract in hand..Not one pending negotiation...the writing is on the wall.

The IAM has not sold out anyone...They defended the work as well as any Labor Organization could...Old U had a "Rubber Stamp" BK Judge in their pocket...and that spelled game over for Labor in the near term.

The New U has an opprotunity here...as BK is not a viable option again...but if we act as a House Divided and lose representation...or accept representation that does not have Iron-Clad language that protects jobs...Those Company born Furlough notices will be coming in greater numbers than you can imagine...and Bumping Rights will disrupt lives for those whom are left. The impact on the end product will be hampered for a long time to come too.

The ironic thing is the Members voted the contract, not the IAM leadership, the Members decided to ratify the agreements, you know those members who are your coworkers.

Robbed, it sucks, but you had the choice to move your fleet service job to another station, go ask all the Utility that were outsourced and had no where to go.

technically the only cities that were offfered to us were DCA BOS LGA or CLT but we were told that those were even going to be iffy. that was all we were told. not even kiddin about it either. but now could we in the PI and PS cities lose our jobs if say HP mgmt wanted to do away with both regional carriers?

The truth of the matter is the judge handed you the IAM contract on a plate.. You either vote
yes for this thing or you get what I give you which is nothing.. You can have a union with
no Contract... Thats what the judge told them..

You call it a victory.. It was a forced down your throat victory. You had to vote yes you had no choice.
If you voted no the situation was worse and you know it.

Speak the truth. Don't continue on with your mindless union babble.

I was there, I know. Vote yes or you can have this. That's the truth.

I was there too, I was more involved then you were in the situation, and yes the company was free to impose any terms they wanted and the IAM was free to strike.

The members of all three IAM groups ratified their respective contracts and accepted the pieces of crap instead of taking on the company.

I voted NO can you say the same?

I voted no so I can say the same.

Dont throw crap into anyone's face.. Who do you think you are anyway?

You are not the voice of the IAM, you are one member..

And as far as I am concerned and most everyone else I wouldn't be to
proud to say that I was close in on the discussions regarding the crap
contract that exists today. You seem to like to do that..

The truth, speak only the truth. The truth, the IAM lost. That's the truth.

In the union hall you should take down Frank and Bill's picture and put up
Lakefields. He's the one that saved your contract.. He had you right in his hands
and he let you get off the hook.. Now DP is stuck with that legacy..

If Lakefield had shoved it to you like his advisors were telling him the merger would
be simple.. There would be no scope, the company would be free to do what it wanted
when it wanted. The IBT would probably win and the AWA contract would probably
prevail. Hard to say. The odds would be even..

Lakefield is the IAM hero now.. Frank and Bill, just a couple of side show freaks..

Oh.. And how do you know I wasn't there?

Did not see you in CCY in Labor Relations.

And Lakefield is not the IAM's hero and I am no fan of Frank and Bill as all they were concerned with was PIT staying open.

The only reason the company did not want to take it all away from the workers as they wanted labor peace and not a strike, if the IAM struck the ATSB would have pulled the financing.

And if you were there you would not it was not a negotiated contract, it was a final offer from the company to the IAM mechanic and related.

but if the IAM did strike, wouldnt the company say ok you strike we have other people comin and helping similar to the nwa-mechanic strike?

I don't think US was prepared, NWA prepared for 18 months for a strike, they had deep pockets and US did not.

The ATSB would have pulled the money and US would have gone chapter 7.

ok thanks. just a quick quest that may be a bit off. I work in ABe for PI if I were to transfer to BWI could i get recalled to BWI mainline even though my home base for recall is ABE? the reason I'm asking is because someone at work told me I could do that and that is if I do end up down there to help my ailing uncle who had emergency open heart operation last monday and suffered a stroke during it. he is now just starting to wake up a bit but not out of the woods yet.
