I am not sure I agree with all the findings but it does tend to support what I have felt and experienced over my life.

My hunch that some things that people view as a slight toward them is nothing more than a misunderstanding. That is not to say that all slights are misunderstandings but that some of them are.

I recall seeing a segment here in Dallas on the local news about a black family from MSY after Katrina. They were clean cut, spoke fluent american .. etc. They called around to various apt complexes to find a place to live. Found one to their liking. When they went the complex, they were told that the unit was no longer vacant. Newscaster called the same complex, was told they had a unit available, went to look at it and low and behold, the complex was available. The newscaster was white. According to various studies I have seen or heard of over the years seem to indicate that this is more frequent than we would like to admit.

There was a show on television last season that had two families, one black one white. They traded places. The families were made up to look like the opposite race. As I recall, the experiences were very interesting.

I guess the adage of walking a mile in someone else’s shoes can be quite telling.

Theres a big time fine for pulling that stuff. What was the outcome of the apartment queerie?

Why does the gov't make employers ask what ethnic backround you are....so they can discriminate against another person for racial hiring preferences?Guess thats ok?.....

That's correct. It's up to $11,000 per violation. (see article) Unfortunately, these cases are not prosecuted very often...and investigations are down in recent years according to a news report I saw recently. The report claimed staffs are stretched too thin in many parts of the country to conduct the investigations needed to prosecute. It's a shame that there's still such a need to combat this type of bigotry in this day and age.
