But first 'this'. Remember the HORSE SH!T that eolesen was SLINGING about how shippers would Avoid the Tough West Coast Dockworkers, by going through the Panama Canal to get to IAH or MSY ?

So without further ADIEU (Eric), this link is for YOU !
(Hey that rhymes) : )

http://money.cnn.com/2012/12/14/news/economy/east-coast-port-strike/index.html

On a FUX News program, some 'tool' (host) INCREDULOUS that the ILA could Shut Down Imports from Maine to Florida, was talking to Fox News analyst Juan Williams. To my DELIGHT, J. Williams looked this A-Hole dead in the eye, and said......"Hey Rick. Do YOU like the fact that you've got the Safety of a CONTRACT with FAUX ? He then said,....."Then DON'T blame the ILA UNION" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(I Almost SH!T a Brick ) !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Think Ol' Boehner is taking 'this' probable STRIKE into consideration, when they meet with (the) B O SS @ 6:30 sunday 12/30, in Special Session ?????

I've always admired the Longshoreman. To me they are a UNION! They represent their members fiercely and are not "Big Picture. types" If it's good for the ILA and sucks for others, they don't care. They act as zealous advocates for their members and to hell with anyone else. That's what a UNION is!

I don't know if they're right or wrong this time around. But I do know they are never in doubt. They stand on principle, unlike nost in the world and that is worthy of at least acknowledgement if not support.

They are the Ron Paul of Organized Labor! Or Bernie Sanders if you prefer.

So Ron Paul does not care if his principles are good or bad, right or wrong but so long as he sticks with his principles he is OK? Seems like that may have been part of his problem. Most folks actually do care if they are right or wrong and if their actions are food for people or not.

That mentality is why people have a pretty bad view of unions and of Ron Paul.

It's matters MORE that you have actual principles than it does what those specific principles are.

For example take avowed Socialist Bernie Sanders. He is, if nothing else a han of honor and principle. Frankly if the vote came down between Bernie and Obama with NO other options I vote for Bernie as at least then I know what I'm getting. With the current Peckerwood I know I'm getting what his OWNERS desire and I'm just another pinch of sh*t in a manure pile/

Interesting. I could care less if a person sticks by their principles if the principles question go against what I stand for or are not in the best interest of the people as a whole.

"Principles" have started a lot of crap. Principles with out a logical basis are useless in my opinion.

I fall to see the point in voting someone who stick with their principles (Sanders) but who is against everything you do not believe in and not vote for someone whom you disagree with on some points because you think he is not princibled.

In the example the overiding concern would be the War Mongering, Bankster/Crony Capitalist puke we have now would completely destroy our civil liberties as he has presided over the reauthorization of FISA Warrants, Patriot Act, NDAA, supported CISPA and on the list goes.

With Bernie I know in my heart he'd never permit those things mentioed above. He might tax me to the poorhouse but I'd still be free and that alone would give me the opportunity to speak out or work harder and make more money.

Sparrow,....That 'portrayal of the Dock Workers (on both coasts of N. America) is the BEST I've EVER heard, and I Will NEVER forget it, NEVER !

Word is just coming forward that the I L A has reached an agreement with the shipping associations to Avert a Major League STRIKE.
To put it Another way 'southwind,...................the Longshoremen's UNION WINS AGAIN !!!!!!!!!!!! (Yawn) : ) : ) : )

Had they NOT reached a 'tentative', The ILA said they WOULD have unloaded NON frozen Perishable Cargo.

NO SUCH 'niceties" would have happened with the ILWU (west coast boys), where one's signed Contract is your solomn WORD !!
(As it ALWAYS Should BE).

GOD Bless them (on both coasts). Men and (now) a small group of Women who's LEGAL Actions sometimes enbolden downtrodden workers who Constantly 'get SH!T on", while the Walmarts ETC break ALL -TIME Profit Records !!!

To put it another way, Barry-O, someone is doing some major suckin'-up to Sparrow !

NO! I've stated from the day I started posting that working union was not for me.

Part of the reason is that no Union with the exception of the Longshoreman have any balls. If I'm paying $xx.xx/mo in dues I expect a return on my investment. The ILA delivers a significant ROI to its members

I've always said if we're going to have a union then GD it let's have one and go out and kick ass. Again ILA fills the bill.

Additionally people have the right to join together to promote common goals and interest. My views on what is wrong with modern day trade unionism are widely known. Repeating them here because you can't follow along serves no purpose.

ILA is "Old School" and I can't help but wonder how things would be different with a little more Old School at the bargaining table.
