Even the Canadians are getting worried....

Bear in mind that EVERY event dealing with Iran has its roots in the CIA led overthrow of the democratically elected government of Iran in 1953. Why did we do it? The brits didn't like that Iran was playing hardball over oil.

This little piece of what the CIA calls "Blowback" gave the Iranian people nearly 2 decades of tyranny and opression under the Shah's brutal regime. By then many began to explore their faith more deeply and the seeds of Islamic fundamentalism were sown allowing for an overthrow of the Shah.

Then to add insult to injury we backed Saddam Hussein in the war against Iran. We now have 42 military bases ringing Iran and we sit and wonder after 50 years of meddling and the 42 bases why they might feel more secure in their homes with a nuke.

If you were running Iran what would you do? We need to be OUT of the Middle East yesterday. We marched in, we can march out of all 42 bases in an orderly and safe manner.

Ironic thing is Iran seems not to be taking their own advice. They are directly meedling in the internal affairs of Syria. And then they wonder why Syrian rebels snatch up Iranians every chance they get.

First off to Southwind, thanks for providing the trailer, I'm intrigued and may just watch the film.

To 777 fixer - Lately it seems we live in a world filled with irony.

I'm NOT a total Paulbot on having the US remove itself from the world stage. However I do think our Foreign Policy is far to heavy handed and we need to scale back our overseas military activity and build up our Diplomatic Corp and clandestine services (CIA) in order to get more and better information that allows our diplomats to be more effective. We have the power to render a nation into rubble in a matter of days should we desire to. Let's do it the right way. As a last resort with the advise and consent of the Congress.

Jefferson was essentially correct when he advised "Trade with all nations, alliances with none. We need to head back to that.

As I have pointed before it's alliances like NATO, with Japan, South Korea etc that has helped create a stable world and thus stable trading partners.

Hezzbolla, the party of God, has direcxt ties with the Syrian government, and ironically they are Iranian funded.

Yet rubble doesn't end a war.

Over 30 years ago, a friend who served in the Vietnam war made this statement:
The US wants to be the police of the world. I thought, yeah, sure buddy. But that is what we are becoming. Diplomats are useless political appointees that make appearences and deals with the country they are in.

We aren't as strong as we appear if wars last for years. Many wars are nothing more than a game of blind man's bluff. Reagan's Star Wars was nothing more than a hoax. Your patriot missles proved that, because the Star Wars concept was stopping Russian warheads from attacking America, yet patriots couldn't stop the scuds from attacking Israel. But believe what you want!
