And I was on an Aircraft carrier U.SS. Bon Homme Richard, CVA 31, off of North Vietnam, from April, 1965, through Jan,1966. Lost two of our pilots on that deployment.

 
 

Thank you for your service. My dad was flying off carriers during that time off a different boat.

 
 

What kind of Aircraft Glenn?----- I was in a Fighter squadron, VF-191, that flew F-8E's.

I was an airdale we called the carrier a boat... hell we had a whole navy of boats if you asked most squadron mates  the black shoes would get p*ssy about it we just didnt care... I was an   AQ long enough to have to have all my uniforms switched to AT worked on A6E Intruders with VA128 and VA95 did several training dets on various carriers  with VA-128 we were a rag squadron training nugget A6 crews so we would go out when they got their carrier quals.  then spent one cruise with VA95 on the Lincoln.

Buddy was a HVAC tech on the Roosevelt.....got me a genuine hat.....I referred to it as my Ted's boat hat.....what color did he turn?  LOL
