Iraq Collapsing

Personally, I think every person in the USA should be obligated to military service.
Possibly as a path to citizenship as well.
Might be good for kids to get out of their comfort zone and see something new and different.
Just my 2 cents...

Darn right. Especially the part about getting on the path to citizenship through military service.

I think peace corps or community service needs to be an option as an alternative to the military.  Not sure having people who don't want to being the military is a good idea for quality or moral.

Marine PLC....I'm in my mid 50's a little old for volunteering again.

Beats being a wuss.

I'm still wondering who you're going to volunteer to send over there.

This country could not afford it.  We really can't afford the size of the military we have now.  Drafting every able bodied 18 year old would massively increase the size of the armed forces.  Where would you put them all?

Sadly while compulsory service sounds like a great idea. There is this pesky little notion upon which our nation was founded upon. For those of you unfamiliar it's called INDIVIDUAL LIBERTY.

The role of the Federal Government is to preserve Liberty. OUR Liberty, not everyone else. Want to promote Liberty? Lead by example, not by force of arms.

Show the world the benefits of Liberty.

You don't promote American Values by engaging in Un-American actions abroad or at home.

Are you willing to put your 777 on the line or would you prefer to stay in the hangar?

He is not the one advocating that troops be sent in to harms way. You guys are. He just seems to be asking who's lives you are willing to risk for this adventure since it obviously won't be your own.

I think we all know the answeer to that!
I'll bet he's not an NRA card carrying life member, like myself. I find it interesting the ignorance of those who witnessed 9/11 and blame US. The "radical" Islamists who are fighting each other right and terrorizing Israeli citizens need to be stopped...period. Sticking one's head in the sand is not going to make the problem go away.

Then if your life was put at risk for a useless war that accomplished nothing why are you so willing to sacrifice other people for something equally as useless?

No I have never served.  I have various physical issues that preclude my service.

I think it is interesting that people can look at 9/11 and at US actions through out the world and say that we have no culpability.

Terrorists need to be stopped?  How?  Israel has been trying for 60 years and have not had any luck.  Short of going in to the ME and slaughtering millions of people how do you plan on accomplishing this?  Do you plan on taking over the oil fields as well because I doubt anyone over there will be selling us oil when we invade and occupy the ME.  It took over 500,000 troops just top get Iraq somewhat settled.  How many troops do you think it would take to invade Iran, Saudi Arabia, Yemmen, Quatar, Syria and a few others?  How much money?

Saying that we need to stop the terrorists is a nice talking point and sounds really good on TV but the truth is in the pudding.  So what's your plan?
