Those who fail to understand the tea party movement – or simply choose to stereotype the entire group – may want to take a close look at a report that came out this week about government payouts.
CNBC reported that government payments – such as Social Security, Medicare, unemployment insurance -- now account for 35 percent of all U.S. wages and salaries. That is precisely the trend that drives the tea partiers.
They see a nation heading toward an untenable situation in which half of the people work and pay taxes in order to provide government checks for the other half. The first time I heard that idea voiced by tea party members nearly two years ago, I thought it was wildly off the mark.
Balance of story here
Macomb county is just outside of Dtroit, MI which isn't exactly a NeoCon stronghold. Keep that tidbit in the back of your head as you ponder the story. Sadly for our more Liberal colleague here the article paints a pretty grim future if you're in the government handout business
