What's new

Japan

I cannot even fathom what they are enduring. Food, water, shelter at a premium if they exist. Thousands if not tens of thousands of people missing and possible dead. Two nuclear plants on the verge of melt down (hopefully the containment shells hold). The human cost is just amazing.

I am in awe of what nature can do. Can you imagine the force required to create a wall of water close to 30 feet tall? The force required to move part of the island over 15 feet? The amount of force to create a 8.9 earthquake? Looking at the footage is a very humbling experience. Makes one realize that perhaps your problems are not all that bad when compared to what the folks in Japan are enduring.

All told, the devastation is mind boggling.
Japan infused some 3 trillion yen immediately into their economy, give or take.....they need cash now.
They are also one of our bigger buyers of bond debt.
What going to happen to us and the world when they dump our bonds?
Pimco already has and we can expect a domino effect from those below number one.
This tragedy in itself could be as devastating to the global economy as it is in Japan.

They need cash now.

Call JG Wentworth I-877 Cash-Now

Forgetting for just a moment the above piece of tasteless humor on my part and the obvious human suffering has anyone even begun to fathom the Economic impact worldwide? It's likely to as staggering as the human suffering going on now and it's not just Japan who will suffer economically.

This is an event of epic proportions the world over.

Funny how MSM is steadfastly focused on the reactor troubles, which I think are not as bad as being made out. Sure they got problems...but even in a meltdown, the containment building should hold the fuel.

But this will have an economic global impact like I pointed out with our T-bills.

It going to hit the fan.....

I like your JG thing......a little levity is welcomed from time to time...... 😀

I think the focus on the reactor and the other devastation is appropriate at this time. To talk about the economic impact at this point and time I think would be somewhat tasteless. It would be like you loosing your house, family everything you own in a fire and me as your neighbor complaining about the impact on house values in the area. Not quite the time right now to be speaking of that.

Yes, the devastation is incredible and human suffering is heart breaking.
I could only imagine their suffering. 🙁 🙁 🙁

LOL........dude you out of touch.....as you pretty much convey on these forums.
You succumb to the smokescreen of all this MSM reporting but yet fail to realize, the global effect.
All this devastation to their house, their country......we live in a global economy except in Texas.
The global economy was and is effected from about one second after the 8.9.

Give me this tasteless BS....wake up...the world turns at a must faster rate than you can comprehend.

Tasteless is dropping gas prices because of drop in global demand.

Tasteless dropped stocks globally .

Tasteless is your lame post.

You got the market cornered dude.

We do indeed need to do everything possible to alleviate the human suffering and aid whatever humanitarian aid we can but to not think about or discuss what financial impact is involved is just plain juvenile.

There are already plenty of articles in financial publications about the Herculean job Japan has to to do FINANCIALLY; they already had one of the most anemic developed economies in the world and they now have to divert tens of billions of dollars to clean up and rebuild or else they face shutting down large portions of the country.

The leaders of the world and esp. in Japan are thinking about what they have to do to get past this tragedy at ALL levels; it doesn't take away from relieving current suffering to talk about how to prevent the Japanese economy from crashing and to figure out how to rebuild it.

There will be no future for Japanese people even if everything is rebuilt if the economy is not tended to NOW and if the Japanese gov't doesn't figure out how to pay for the disaster and reprioritize its previous spending plans.

And given that Japan is a major creditor ane exporter nation (in contrast to the US as an importer and debtor nation) there is significant global financial concern. Figuring out to keep other countries from being taken down is absolutely necessary.
Allowing the US economy to be severely damaged does nothing to help the Japanese people long-term who need stable export markets.

Thank you for your kind and cherished words my friend, I look forward to your insightful and enlightening posts.

Of course there will be an economic impact on the global economy.

Sorry for being so selfish and heartless as to think about the 'little people' that have lost their possessions, lives, families and maybe even stock in Sony.

So, should I stop my donations and invest?
