Jetnet Survey Idiocy...

On a lighter note....

Has anyone noticed the new Jetnet home page survey where you can vote on the "Poet Laureate" of the first century of powered flight?

Who came up with these choices? If the survey itself and the building results are even closely representative of the cultural literacy of the average AMR employee, we are all in more serious trouble than anyone knows.

To wit: Bach and St. Exupery certainly fit the category of Poets Laureate, yet are trailing in the overall percentage.

Rodenberry is a Sci Fi author. Deals in space travel. Set his stuff way in the future, not in the 20th century. Why is he even a choice?

Sagan-- brilliant man, physicist, astronomer. Wrote non-fiction as the bulk of his work. Hardly touches the subject of powered flight. Again, why is he here?

Wells-- the is the big question mark. Folks, this guy was born in the 19th century, published his most popular works in the 1890s --well over a decade before the Wrights made their first powered flight, starting the first century of said act in 1903-- died less than halfway into the first century of powered flight, really wasn't a big participant in 20th century literature, yet is leading the survey at the current time. Certainly an inspiration for later writers, but there is no way he should be on this list!

Yes the whole thing amounts to trivia. But seriously, if you wanna be the best, encourage intelligent thought among your peers rather than BS just to fill the page.

Too bad they did,nt have a survey, for the BIGGEST PHONEY's at AA.
(Similiar to what the Native Americans use to say. "This man speak with forked tounge")
