Gate agent in JFK told us that we will start service from JFK to Jamaica and 4 flights a day to Charlotte, but I think it would be operated by US Airways Express.
Anyone know if it's in the DRS?

How is usairways express gonna get to Jamaica from JFK? Jamaica, Queens maybe.

Not to Jamaica, but to Charlotte. JFK to Charlotte would be an express.

from JFK to Jamaica, i don't know what aircraft yet. She said it's in the DRS, but not the schedule yet. Maybe a gate or res agent can answer this.

OH..ok.. 🙂 I think Mainline should do the JFK to CLT too..they can take more people and bags. Would they be able to fill large a/c 4 times a day to CLT?

They said they are, we are getting another gate there.
We share gates with British Airways which is a very nice terminal. Very clean and modern and yes, I agree. I think the CLT should be done by an airbus or 737s.

Well if CLT-JFK is done by express then they will likely have rotate an aircraft from Jamaica to JFK considering there is no US flts at JFK.

Wasnt HP allowed some Caribbean flights with the merger? Would any of their 320s be capable of JFK-Jamaica without requiring extra equipment for the flight? If so, then maybe a rotation to Jamaica from JFK (PHX-LAS inbound).

When the FLL Focus city started since day 1 we have run a r/t one-stop LGA-FLL-KIN and return. Even though it is not non-stop the loads have been very strong, often 40-60 each way a day LGA-KIN. A JFK-KIN nonstop would probably be proffitable, as it is mostly VFR and Biz traffic. JFK-MBJ would be almost entirely vacation type traffic. The real market I would like to see US serve is JFK-SDQ. The demand is huge and is currently underserved. Last Summer AA ran 4 A-300's nonstop, which is their normal plan, and DL 1 763. This summer its 3 AA AB3's and a DL 752. CO normally ran a 777 or 764 from EWR, now it's a 753. If US really wanted to US could fill 2-3 757's a day easily in this market, as many of the regular travelers fly AA out of necissity and would prefer an alternative if it where there !

Regards

You could probably do a routing like JFK-KIN-FLL-XXX and a routing YYY-FLL-KIN-JFK. That would just about utilize 2 airplanes for the day. If you added a routing like the JFK-LAS-JFK instead of having an East RON, you would really improve productivity with the airplane.

Rumor has had it that Managment has been running numbers for PSA to do CLT KIN....or maybe FLL KIN. They've been playing with that route or thought for at least a year now....it comes and goes. Maybe it will come about. Would imagine a 700 on it....but either that or the 200 could do it. They supposedly already have the 200+ mile exemption for equiping with just life vests / no rafts....

wouldn't it much safer to do it mainline with all those hibachi grills in use during flight? or, is that just on the sju flights?

Sorry for anyone expecting an actual fight and hearing about this 4x A319 rumor, it's just more of the same instead...

3x daily CLT-JFK roundtrips now appearing in the schedules starting September 6, operated by Mesa CRJ-900s.

Less frequency than JetBlue, on smaller and far inferior equipment, with service starting 2 months after theirs. Looks like a completely half-assed response to me.

Of course, they could change their minds, but you might never find out, since Tempe doesn't like issuing press releases for new East service.

Um, Air Jamaica flys an A-340 (a bigger aircraft than what LCC flys) from JFK to Kingston, daily.
