Panasonic Avionics Corporation is seeking a qualified candidate to ensure the successful product lifecycle for our in-flight entertainment (IFE) and communication systems, which are used by Boeing, Airbus, and the world's airlines.

This position will be responsible for developing and implementing a global business plan, strategy, and roadmap for various lines, providing innovative solutions for global customers, and leveraging existing clientele. Key deliverables will include driving the new product launch, developing strategy, assisting with the development of collateral for the sales and marketing organization, and working with engineering to develop new product line components.

In this position the Product Line Manager (PLM) will be responsible for all aspects of the product strategy for one or more of Panasonic Avionics Corporation's product lines. The PLM will work directly with engineering, product management, product marketing, operations, finance, and customer service to execute a successful product strategy to meet business and market requirements.

The PLM will be responsible for managing all aspects of the product life cycle from product idea generation through end of life, including development of program directives, and validation of all product requirements documents. A key element of this position involves ensuring cross-functional development teams meet the product, business, and time-to-market requirements defined for each product. This includes being accountable for decisions involving all aspects of your product line(s), including day-to-day issues concerning released products.

This position will also require that you validate all product presentations, data sheets, technical specifications, competitive positioning, and the related product documentation needed to support the sales and marketing efforts of the company.

An entrepreneurial management style is required as is a good balance of business sense and technical knowledge so as to be able to effectively and creatively drive customer solutions. Occasional international and domestic travel will be needed to succeed and your success will be measured by product business plans that are realized on time and on budget.

PRIOR PRODUCT LINE MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCE IS MANDATORY.

Ideal Candidate

· The ideal candidate has a proven track record of managing complex systems (hardware and software products) through the complete product life cycle, preferably in a regulated industry (e.g., aerospace, medical, and telecommunications).

· You will have successfully delivered profitable products to market that meet market requirements, exceed ROI objectives, and are introduced on time. This achievement will have been realized through successful coordination of engineering, operations and product marketing activities.

· You will have strong experience managing multiple concurrent and complex projects with multiple stakeholders.

· Your background is across several business and customer-related areas, which may include engineering, sales, operations, customer service, and senior management.

· You will have direct experience managing resources within your authority and outside your authority.

· You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills, excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills and will be a self-directed and independent worker who can also lead cross-functional and cross-organizational projects.

· 4 years experience in the aerospace, aviation, technical airline operations, in-flight entertainment (IFE) or related industry experience such as networking or consumer electronics.

· Familiarity with audio and video on demand (AVOD) technology such as portable music players, digital video recorders, satellite television, and satellite radio.

· Past experience within the MSO (Multiple System Operator) or DBS (Direct Broadcast Satellite) market.

· Exposure to in-flight entertainment (IFE), avionics, or other aircraft related products

· Knowledge of airline operations, ARINC standards, and electronics manufacturing.

· Working knowledge of storage array networks, Ethernet switching, QoS, wireless network technology, and MPEG standards.

Professional Background and Experience

· 4 year college degree in a technical field (preferably in EE or CS).

· Minimum 5 years experience in product development, preferably with a networking company

· Working knowledge of TCP/IP networks and consumer electronics (CE) technologies.

· Proficient with mainstream PC desktop applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Project).

· Thorough understanding of Product Line Management processes and procedures

· Strong technical, financial, and business skills

· Very comfortable speaking with internal and external customers at all level (sales, marketing, senior management)

· Excellent communication, organization, and presentation skills

· Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills

· Demonstrated ability to work across cross-cultural, cross-geography, and multi-disciplinary teams, i.e., sales, operations, marketing, engineering, finance, and customer service

· Willing to travel (<10%) on short notice.
