Noticed today @ the CLT ramp that John Deere tractors seem to be replacing TUG's. Although it looks a little odd, seems like it would be more useful than the current TUGs. Maybe US will be a trendsetter. Any CLT rampers with experience..pros or cons?

The tractors are leased temporarily while we wait for the tugs that are on order. They've been on order forever or so we've been told. Carts also. I'll believe it when I see it. The space shuttle was built quicker than these carts and tugs.

It may be the fact that the last batch of tuggs from tugg were not PHL ramp tested tough. The northeastern proofing groud found many issues that needed to be addressed before tugg could really say they meet USAIR ramp expectations.

Hey buy the DEER's in white with the grren and yellow logo....way cool.

the old PSA used Kubota tractors in many of the smaller stations. They were about 1/3 the price and a tug and could pull just about anything. In the Northwest, the local Kubota dealers serviced them on a regular basis. They filled all four tires with lead shot. Even pushed a BAE-146 when it was necessary. Strong and tough. USAir got rid of them after merger.

"Cool northern efficiency".
