killing off our pax?!?

it was MESA , not us .

We contract with MESA. They are part of us. We (should) own the death.

Just like Blackwater killing all those civilians. We cannot escape the consequences by saying they were under contract. Those who matter could care less. It is a cost of outsourcing that we, the employees, should force those making the decisions, to eat.

At the negotiating table, it should be, "Oh, looky here. I guess outsourcing really was not that cheap."

Tom Legow, former head of marketing (profiting AAA over $1 billion in one year) briefed the AAA MEC on outsourcing.

It was not a pretty picture.

The only possible reason for outsourcing is when management loses control of, well, managing. It should be brought back in-house as soon as possible because well managed operations in-house are always cheaper than out-sourcing.

there is another thread about this in the Regionals.... how is this Mesa's fault? the lady flipped out to the point that the police were called... said she arrived late... was her inbound flight late? was she at the bar drinking? was there bad weather around Phoenix (monsoon season?) and they had to push early?

This is sad and shouldn't be made light of no matter who's at fault. I would like to know why she arrived late at the gate, they don't mention if she was originating in PHX or if her connecting flight was late, obviously she wasn't fit to fly. Since she was in Police custody I would think they'd in some way be liable for her saftey since she wasn't obviously acting right.

your right , i'm sorry , i wasn't laughing at this poor lady’s death but simply the comment by contract because mesa's run over a few of our people .

Deep down thou , i wonder if the level of service she might have received from mesa might have been so frustrating that perhaps it drove her over the edge . Sometimes when a pax comes up to the counter you can SEE what kind of state their in , how was her situation handled , were the agents compassionate or were they cruel ? I personally feel that whenever you hear about these mesa horror stories I just feel that a lot of it has to do with the ethos of their corporate culture . I think their a bad airline and they treat not only their workers but also their customers very very poorly and it shines through .

i absolutely agree!! this is somebody's sister, mom, aunt, etc.
the purpose in posting this story has nothing to do with mitigating the affects endemic to the loss of life to jeer at an incompetent and systemically flawed operation. the purpose in posting this story has everything to do with reconsidering operations that are financially favorable (a la spreadsheets) and the human reality of these spreadsheet based decisions. nada mas, nada menos.

actually this customer wasn't even a Mesa customer yet... that we know of.

Freedom, I understand your hatred of Mesa but mine is probably deeper for Republic.... at least when Mesa buys other airlines, the employees (and pay) come with them. We can't say that about our MidAtlantic bretheren.

Freedom was laughing at the comment I made about Mesa - it was an inside joke - I am one of the US Airways employees they have run over. It was nothing directed at the lady that lost her life, just an inside joke about my beef with Mesa.

Using this event to somehow inject Blackwater and a personal political opinion into this thread?

Lame

Go whine at Daily Kos

You are correct. The others on this board seem to negate personal responsibility. They are now asking that the ailrine, Mesa in this case, have a say over one's life cycle. She was apparently due to have a heart condition and it has no bearing on anyone else but herself. Let me guess, she was overweight too, but that wasn't her fault, it was McDonald's because she consumed too many Big Macs. Give me a break, take responsibility for your own life and quit blaming everyone for your problems.

Yes yes...Mesa might have run over some people but can we frigging get on topic this thread please?

How is it Mesa's fault...she was not a Mesa customer...She paid US Airways for the ticket...Mesa is just a contracted airline of US Airways doing business as US Airways Express...

Why are we even arguing over this?

The woman showed up late at the gate...it's HER friggin fault...and if she was fuming and yelling profane terms in the terminal then by all means...arrest the wench.

That's all I'm going to say I don't need to visit the cornfields this week 🙂

this is nor mesa's or usaiways's fault. the woman was late for her flt and became irrate once she found out the flt left. our people did what they could to get her on the next flt but she snapped. so the cops were called. she acted stupid so they slaaped the hand cuffes on. i think it's her own fault for trying to remove the hand cuffs. hand cuffs are not made to be removed by the suspect . if they were, then suspects would be able to break free all the time. she did this to her self. you people need to stop blaming airlines for every little thing that happens at the airport. people do a lot of stupid things on their own . this unfortunately was one of them.
