Kingfisher, first Airbus to land at Bajpe airport

A Kingfisher Airbus with a seating capacity for 144 passengers, on a trial run, landed at Mangalore Airport around 4 pm on Friday making it the first Airbus (A-319) to land in the history of Bajpe Airport.

Captain D D Gandhi (VP flight operations) and Capt Samant flew the Airbus to Mangalore.

Fourteen crew members, including the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), were in the aircraft.

Bajpe Airport director M R Vasudeva hoped that in the coming days there would be a healthy competition between airlines and passengers would benefit from this competition.

“We want more and more airlines to come forward to operate to and from Mangalore,â€￾ he said.

Kingfisher Airlines will start its operations between Mangalore and Mumbai from January 20. According to the flight schedule, Flight no IT 141 will leave Mumbai at 13.10 hours and reach Mangalore at 14.20 hours.
