Good Riddance to those and the 300's as well...An aviation spotters list that I subscribe to reports that DL retired their last 10 737-200 aircraft over the past week, but could not (yet) give the final flight/date/registration with certainty. Anyone?

Here are the registration #s of the last 10 aircraft. All were retired on Sept 1 & 2. (sorry, I don't have any flight # info.

Try stuffing some old lady's large kennel in one with a full load of pax with cargo....worthless for cargo and the 200's pax capacity was only 100.I worked both types for many years, and they were fine A/C.
The 200's were the backbone of many fleets for years. I realize this wasn't the case for DL, but it sure was for
SWA and PI among a few others. As for the 300's, they have never been a problem either unless the DL ones were out of the ordinary..![]()
I put Kennels along with HR's on 200's all of the time. Maybe the DL 200's only held 100, but when I was with PI, ours held 112 all coach. I can't remember the exact number, but I think it dropped down to 107 with the F/Y config. The 200's were a charm compared to a DC-9 or anTry stuffing some old lady's large kennel in one with a full load of pax with cargo....worthless for cargo and the 200's pax capacity was only 100.
The biggest reason to get rid of them is fuel inefficiency, then crew costs as opposed to RJ's. Delta does not need them. My biggest beef was that b4 the DFW hub closed, they were replacing 757's with 733's and trying to cram the same cargo on board. I'm sure that they were fine, in their day, (70's & 80's) for short haul to medium range, but with 50-100 seat RJ's around, what's the point? We do have quite a few MD-88's & 90's to fill the void, but the 737-800(in DL's case) is a much better aircraft for both pax & cargo....why does capacity being 100 make it a bad aircraft. That's certainly not why DL is getting rid of them. On the contrary, DL needs an aircraft of that size more than anyone with the CVG & SLC hubs...
As a flight attendant I'm so glad to get rid of that airplane. It was way too loud in the back.
