Lav truck vs van

In PHX, we have a lady that decided driving the lav truck would be an easy gig. Agent R bid for it and found quickly that she should be very careful what she wishes for. She started her bid and she was trained by the late Anthony Putrow (may he RIP God bless him). Once she got the general idea he left her on her own. Anthony said he was sitting in the breakroom and Agent R walks in and she is drenched with ramp gators and tarmac lettuce. Everyone in the breakroom was in a stunned silence. It was like the scene in "Carrie" when Sissy Spacek's character gets drenched in pig's blood at the prom. She whines, "Anthony! Ya gotta help me!" She has a high-pitched whiny voice with a deep Boston accent, if this helps with the imagery. He yelled, "I can't help you! You're on your own!". He raced out the door, got in his lav truck and laughed his a$$ off. It was in her ears, eyes, nose and mouth and all over.

Until recently, we had a driver that would eat french fries in his lav truck while wearing the black rubber gloves. He's with the post office, now.

Ramp gators? I thought that had been around forever. In PHX, if there is a lav spill on the ramp, you will hear the announcement on the radio by an eye-witness team lead, "Gators on the ramp!"

Ramp gators, Brown Trout...I think every carrier has it's own euphemisms for the stuff.

I also think anyone who's been around awhile has seen a "baptism," or has a good story about one.

I watched a guy from Ogden (now Menzies) "take one for the team" while servicing the aft lav on an AS MD-80.

...Not as good as "Carrie," but it was definitely something to see for sure....

PM me and I will get you the details.

Just word of mouth from the ramp on Friday night...

Police (airport or city??) estimated the speed of the lav truck as 44mph.

No skid marks before impact.

Airport police will do the initial investigation. They are not properly trained to do any type of work like the above so I do not think anymore will come of it. I am not sure if I would trust a police department that is not authorized to write speeding tickets or DWI's, they are basically peace keepers not investigators...

They are authorized to issue tickets, I have represented people before when the company tried to discipline someone for getting a speeding ticket on the ramp.

They are police officers and have the same authority as the CMPD or the NC State Troopers.

does it vary from airport to airport bc atmy airport they patrol all roads surrounding the airport and the likes. ive seen themin action thats why i ask

does it vary from airport to airport?

Yes. Sometimes they are their "own" police force, sometimes they have the same authority (or are the same) as the officers patrolling the surface streets.

As for tickets, sometimes their an internal deal (might only affect your AOA driving privledges), and sometimes their just like getting one on the open road.

Incorrect, they cannot issue speeding tickets, they are not radar certified, because they dont have radar, and they do not have calibrated speedometers...if they issued actual sppeding tickets then they are BSing....They can issue tickets if the road conditions are bad....I work with them everyday.....I know what they can do and cant....

From the CMPD Web Page:

SO? what does that have to do with issueing tickets? Have you ever seen a speed limit sign on Loop Rd on airport property, no because it is a PVA (public vehicle access).
