LHR Slots

How much did US pay? Hmmm I'm not sure but I DID see Kirby walking funny rubbing his knees and wiping his mouth. Ya gotta do what you gotta do. 😉

If US flies CLT-LHR, unlike the PHL situation, LGW will very likely be dropped and there will be no need for additional widebodies (for LHR). Personally, I find it incredible (unbelievable) that US would pay $60M for a CLT-LHR pair of slots.
Could it be for an earlier flight from PHL? They can run 2 different flights as they do with PHL-FRA. Or maybe a LAS/PHX-LHR flight.

The company will probably want labor concessions to help cover the costs of the slots.

I think zethya was right about CLT. The 330 now on CLT/ LGW would be used for LHR instead. The already announced PHL/LHR would remain on the 330. They did say PHL/LGW would stay for now on the 767/757....we'll see. If all of these slot rumors are true, we would now have two flights to LHR. Since the Star Alliance is BIG at LHR and non-existent at LGW, we probably no longer need anymore flights to LGW. This would free up one 767/757 for another TA destination...or a spare for PHL issues/delays. 🙄

I would love to see a PHX/LAS-LHR. We need it badly. The Star Alliance could feed it at LHR and we could feed it at PHX. It would be a powerhouse flight. But for now we don't have enough a/c. The length of this flight requires two a/c to do one round trip. Most European flights from the east coast only need one a/c to do a round trip...shorter flights. Until 2009, I just don't see any TA service from PHX/LAS....unless of course there are a few 332s or 340s coming sooner. One can only hope. 🙄 🙄 🙄

Don't they already GET labor concessions from us? 🙄

Until your USAirways W-2 shows $0 for your annual income, there is ALWAYS room for more concessions.

Given the glamour and free travel attached to being an airline employee, management is fully convinced that we should be paying them for allowing us to work here.

Here is a rather good article from IHT about the worst airports in Europe. Guess where LHR ranks.

.....Jeffrey Pappin, a business consultant in London, said it was "always amusing to look at the signs that inform you that it takes 25 minutes to walk to a particular gate." As for Heathrow's amenities, Pappin said, "One only knows through experience and secret knowledge where the restrooms and business lounges are tucked away.".....

Does anyone know what terminal we will be using at LHR? Im guessing terminal 3, however terminal 4 might be an option now that those new nice digs for BA will be open by then.

When T5 opens One world (except BA) carriers will be using T3. Star carriers on T1. In the mean time gates are assigned as you arrive. At peak times be happy you have a gate, lots of flights end up on ramp stands.
