For those employees that have Anthem BS/BS of So Carolina,
the 06 rates are a killer!

Your Office Co pays increased, Meds increased, Ded's out the roof!

I'm P/T, I carry 100%, my husband only had an 80% coverage with United Healthcare.
We dropped his a few years ago,and took the 100% coverage.

FOLKS< THIS IS NO BARGAIN ANY LONGER.

Emp and Spouse with dental, PER MONTH, are ya sitting down?

I live in SC and yes the price is going up, but still a much better deal than going private. My friend is paying over $1000.00 a month (for a family) and not for 100% coverage.

What I don't like is the Metlife dental. There are not enough good dentist on the PPO plan. SC dentist don't seem to want to work for what the PPO offers. Of course one of our PPO dentist offers $29.95 extractions. :wacko:
 
I just came from my son's Oral Surgeon to get his wisdom teeth out. The fee is $2000 for all 4 but with MetLife I only pay $283. Not so bad really. And I didn't use the PPO doctor, just the one the orthodontist recommended. Try going to the doctor of your choice and finding out how much out of pocket you pay. Sometimes it is worth the difference.
 
I know of a very large, prominant, international software company (know people who work there). Just a few years ago, payroll deduction was $0. Now, for a family it's about $400/month plus $20 office visit co-pay.

You're not alone - this is the trend everywhere. The problem isn't with your own management - it's the healthcare industry as a whole. Go take your battle up with them.

Then there is the issue with MetLife dental (we have it at AA also) of getting them to pay the friggin claim once it's submitted. They paid for a cleaning at my dentist's office. Then when I went for a filling in the same office, they rejected the claim saying he was not a PPO dentist. When his office called, they would say "Well, of course you're part of the network, I can't imagine why the patient would say that we refused the claim." When I called it was "that dentist is not part of our network."

It finally got paid, but 3 months later.

That's what I've been doing for the last few years. To me it is worth paying out of pocket to see the dentist of my choice.

BTW SC does not have one Oral Surgeon on our PPO. Years ago I had my wisdom teeth removed by a surgeon in CLT. I have since learned that when there is no PPO specialist in your area you can is apply for 100% coverage to a local dentist or doctor.

Just called HR and the Company has no plans(why would they to look elsewhere)?

Granted the dental I use frequently, and he is close to home. Howevere, the medical ded for a family, is 225pp or 450.

It is not just US that is passing the costs on to the employees. Look at GM (General Motors). Once a taboo in the auto industry, there are talks of concessions and defined contribution plans versus defined benefit plans. In the last ten years, the cost of medical coverage has doubled. Absolutely pathetic.
 
My friend going to work for Cathay Pacific and will be based in the U.S. is getting 100% coverage; no co-pays, no prescription fees, everything is covered, no out of pocket..zippo, nada, nothing. Funny how foreign companies realize the value of health coverage, and vacation for that matter...every employee at that airline gets 46 days vacay a year. Not bad.
 
I'm an HR Director for my company (DH is the pilot in this family). My company's hit is 29% for 2006! Employee plus spouse is over $900 per month. So, a 1/3 employee contribution is not out of line. People do not realize the cost of health insurance and other benefits. I blame my profession--HR--for not educating employees. I give my employees a benefits statement each year that shows the value of what they get from our company.
 
Does anyone have the rate info and co-pays for BCBS/SC for employee and child(ren) 100% for full-time employees. I took the early out and don't have access to the benefits section. Thanks
