May Domestic Yields Inch Up, But Down 4.4% For Year-To-Date

Domestic yield for eight major U.S. airlines increased by 0.1% in May, the Air Transport Association reported yesterday.

Yield climbed 3% in the Atlantic market and 3.8% on Pacific routes but dropped 2.1% for Latin American flights. For the year to the end of May, yield declined 4.4% for domestic flights and 4.1% for Latin America. Yield was up 4.2% for the Atlantic and 6.4% for Pacific. The eight carriers represented in these figures are Alaska, American, America West, Continental, Delta, Northwest, United and US Airways.
